Golden Bride has come to an end of the road after eight months and one week (6.23.07~2.3.08) on our TV monitor screens. I think I’ll prepare a small celebration for myself as a mark of my devotion to Golden Bride, maybe watching the series all over again next weekend. Hehe!Even though Golden Bride has ended, but the memories will remain for a long period of time. I’ll always remember the laughs and the tears that may have have fallen from a certain episode. Cheers to the Golden Bride ensemble casts and you for the wonderful memories!
P.S Junwoo ♥ Jinjoo forever in our hearts. I’ll miss their bed scenes, their spontaneous conversations, their hugs & kisses, and Junwoo.
2.2.08 Golden Bride Episode 63. Jiyoung found Mrs. Kim laying unconscious in bed, she screams for help. Mrs. Kim is being rushed to the hospital. Youngsoo is not a happy camper when Mr. Kim arrive, he blames his father for his mother’s current state. Jiyoung feels sorry for what she has done.
Saemi calls Youngsoo’s home where the maid tells her about Mrs. Kim whereabout. Jinjoo brings food to Saemi room is shocked to hear the news. Jinjoo sits Saemi down and tells Saemi that her father is Mr. Kim. Saemi I suppose refuse to believe what Jinjoo said and rush to the hospital. Jinjoo calls Junwoo to ask him what to do since now Saemi knows the truth.
Saemi at the hospital where Youngsoo said there’s no hope between them? Youngsoo isn’t too thrilled when he sees Jinjoo. He angrily walks pass her. On the way home, Jinjoo said sorry to Saemi.
Mr. Kim begs Mrs. Kim for forgiveness, for their children, he asks her to forgive him just this one time. She refuses. He’s devastated.
Kang family prepares for the opening of ‘Golden Bride’ cake shop. Junwoo and Jinjoo on their way to the opening ceremony of the shop. She feels down because of Saemi’s situation. Junwoo cheers her up by having her open the trunk of their car where balloons release into the sky. Junwoo inhale the balloon then sings a few phrases to Jinjoo, his voice sounds cartoonish. Awww! The perfect husband to the end!
Grand Aunt comes to congratulate Jinjoo on the opening of her new shop. She’s sad because Saemi didn’t come. Jinjoo waits for Saemi for a while before she finally shows up with a bouquet of flower. The family is delighted seeing Saemi.
Our couple at the Han River, where they once again profess their love for one another. Scene ends with a kiss.
Jiyoung comes to see Junwoo where she said she’s sorry. Remember in the past he asked her to say sorry to him sincerely so he can forgive her and move on with his life, she should’ve said it with sincerity then. Although a bit late int he game, but she finally realizes the pain she has caused other. Junwoo extends his hand for a handshake.
Youngsoo and Mrs. Kim leave for the States. Saemi whom is also at the airport hid behind one of the gate. Youngsoo sees her, they exchange longing gaze before he leave.
Jinjoo is in labor. I’m surprised they show us inside the delivery room. I thought they would fast forward of Jinjoo having the baby in her arm. But no, we get to see Junwoo cries seeing Jinjoo in pain, he gives her a kiss after Star is born. Awww! ENDS.
Preview: Fast forward 5 years later. Mr. Kim has aged so much, he’s in Vietnam?

2.3.08 Golden Bride Episode 64 (final episode). Four years later…
The Kang family has moved into a mansion. Only in K-dramas do we see such a big family living together harmoniously. Junwoo has his own office, I guess he’s the ’sar jang nim’. Saemi has her own fashion shop, she’s working hard and still waiting for Youngsoo.
Junwoo sends the driver to Jinjoo’s bakery where she’s taken to the restaurant. Junwoo and their son serenade her with a song in celebration of her birthday. The only good scene of our couple from the final episode. They are no longer addressing each other as ‘Jinjoo-shi’, ‘Ajusshi’. It’s now ‘yobo’, which I’m not used to hearing, maybe if they extend to another ten episodes I’ll get use to the word ‘yobo’ then. Ha.
The Turkey trip Junwoo planned for Jinjoo, she refuses to go. Jinjoo feels guilty that because of her Youngsoo and Saemi couldn’t be together. Junwoo is upset that she still blames herself after these years.
Youngmin at the airport to pick up his mother and brother. He bumps into Jiyoung whom is accompanying by a foreign man. They have a chat where she shows him a picture of her mother with a foreign man, I assume her mother has remarried. They bid goodbye, I think Youngmin assume that Jiyoung has a new man in her life. As shown, they both still love each other very much but can’t be together.
Jinjoo appears on television talking about her dad - they show footage of him doing volunteer in Vietnam.
Saemi and Youngsoo finally are together. After seeing Jinjoo on tv, I guess he finally come to his senses. They meet at the art gallery and embrace.
Jinjoo calls her dad, they appear to have a good relationship. Not sure what she said to him, perhaps asking him to come back to Korea. He sadly looks at the picture of his wife and Youngsoo from the cellphone.
Our couple and their son strolling along side the tea field. What’s this place call? I recall that it was a popular scene from the seasonal drama, Summer Scent. Anyway, Junwoo asks WooJoo whom does he like best, Mom or Dad. Woojoo replies Dad. Jinjoo then asks the same question, Woojoo replies, Mom. The scene pans out out slowly , a long message (probably a thank you message to the viewers) appears on the screen. ENDS. Prepare for a sudden feeling of sadness that makes you want to cry when the ending credits roll. Really!
Golden Bride ends well, everyone gets what they worked for, happiness for the people who deserve it.

What a sad ending for Young-soo and Sae-mi after all they went through. My heart aches for them. It’s not even their fault. It’s just taboo for them to marry now. *sigh* I wonder what Mrs. Kang said to Sae-mi. Had Mr. Kim admitted his paternity from the beginning he could have saved Young-soo and Sae-mi the heartache. But, oh well it is a K-Drama.
Yippee - Welcome Star! I knew that they wouldn’t do anything to Star, especially anywhere near the end. Love the pictures. I am so excited to see the video. The birth looks so realistic in pictures anyway. Jun-woo even got to cut the umbilical cord.
Whoa! What happened to Mr. Kim in the preview? He aged so much in 5 years. So after he didn’t receive Mrs. Kim’s forgiveness does he leave Korea and go to Vietnam? Is he doing humanitarian work in another place? It’s almost like he falls off the face of the earth. So does that mean that Young-min is now the sole owner of Well Being foods?
Young-soo and Mrs. Kim head off to the States I suppose to both heal and for Young-soo to study. I hope they heal and find happiness again.
Ji-Young, our villanness - you figured out too late how much hurt you’ve caused others. But, at least you figured it out before you left the country and became human again. The sincere apology to Jun-woo, yeah at least she finally did it. That closes the book on their story. Ji-Young is now headed to Hawaii. I guess I’ll be seeing her on the streets in Waikiki. *winks*
Excited and a sad at the same time to see tomorrow’s episode.
Again, Mahalo (Thank You in Hawaiian) Anne for all your hard work!

I feel so sad for Sae Mi and Young Soo, I know that in reality they would never be able to be together with the family’s blessing, but since is a drama I hope something good happens for the two of them. They have been through so much to be together and I don’t like this whole Romeo/Juliet crap going on, at least they don’t die. But the airport scene was so sad, even though they didn’t exchange words, it was still heartbreaking.
[Reply]
ill second that tsunamibues the whole romeo and juliet isn’t that great. At the least, I was expecting both of them to leave to the US to be happy. There I dont think anypne would care about this. At all. Its way too depressing after all they have gone through to end like this. I mean people did marry their cousins not so long ago for pete’s sake. Sorry Im kinda of steamed about this.
[Reply]
it does look like Mr. Kim is in Vietnam doing some NGO work. I guess one has to ways to make amends right?
I’m still hoping (however slim) that anne’s comment about the PD saying happy end for everyone does include YS and Sae-Mi.
[Reply]
maybe they should have had that baby out of wedlock …..

apdy. this episode is so fantastic. hahahah!!! wow!! her shop is nice. i was so scared that saemi would get mad with jin joo. that was very close. it was sweet of jin joo to wait for saemi it was lucky that saemi came.
there were some sad parts in this episode too. poor think that saemi n young soo cannot be together. i don’t get why must it be like romeo n juliet like what tsunamiblues said.
jun woo is soo sweet. he tried to cheer jin joo up n all. n the kiss was nice when they were at the lake.
the part when jun woo hug jin joo from the back in the bedroom was a nice touch touching her stomach n all. so sweet…awwww!!!! loke that part.
wow!! lee young ah is a very good actress. i love the part in the hospital when she wanted to give birth. i was wow!! n that jun woo being next to her n all. my eyes was tearing up. hahha!!! a happy family at that part.
can’t wait to watch the last episode. thanks so much everyone. i had lots of fun in this website with all of u guys. thanks apdy so much.

I recall someone mention about writing a fanfic of Youngmin meeting a Vietnamese girl? Well, here’s the perfect connection to that idea. On the final final episode when Jinjoo speaks to her dad on the phone, she said Youngmin will take his mother to visit Mr. Kim in Vietnam. I think Youngmin will find a Jinjoo-like and perhaps she’s the girl that will meet his expectation. Hehe.
Still quite ’sad’ that it has ended .. sigh*

It has finally ended. But I am sure Golden Bride will remained in our mind for the rest of the year and beyond. It definately goes into my long list of favourites. We may end here but I am sure once the DVD gets out on sale later, the furor will start again. Before that, it will be nice to see this with subs, of course. He! He!
Anne asked me to comment on my feelings when the credit ran up in the end. It looks overly long so they may have put a poetry of some sort. I loved what they did at the end of ‘Thank You’ about who is actually the miracle. It may seems sad but it seems to carry in your mind that they will all live happily ever after. Hey, worked on Sun and Moon since everything is resolved now.
My 3rd final favourite moment from Golden Bride has to be the father and son duo singing to Jin Joo. That really sums up that our Golden bride has done well for herself.
I am happy to see how successful the Kangs are all are and Jin Joo is true to her words that she worked hard to provide them some lap of luxury. I am all for the fact that the Kang should remain as one unit like before.
I like the fact that Mr Kim did something beneficial work to serve his ‘time’ while waiting for his family to forgive him. I am glad he did not have to wait that long (at least he is still alive to receive it) and isn’t he fortunate that he had such a daughter to help him in his effort to seek forgiveness.
I am so happy that Young Soo came to his senses and looked for Sae Mi. How she can read his mind too.
So it ended well and even for Young Min and Ji Young looked happy with their new lives. At least they carry on despite what happen in the past. Just like what she did with Jun Woo, she also make her amends with Young Min too.
Sarang Anda!
Looking forward to the next drama to tug my heartstrings and make me laugh again.
I heard Lee Young Ah has another project in April already. Waiting to see Song Chang Ui in another drama maybe later this year and most all. I wanted to see Kim Yong Gi (Grand Aunt’s Assistant) in a speaking role the next time. Didn’t we enjoyed his quiet, steady presence?
You should take note of the screams from fans when he spoke in Song Chang Ui’s birthday celebration. I think he has created a following so I think he will see him very soon.
I have enjoyed your company too and we will all meet again in the next drama.
Kamsahamida!

Can’t believe Golden Bride has ended. As sad as I am that its over, I am happy that at least there was closure for all involved. There was no storyline left hanging. We all know that Sae-mi and Young-soo end up together. Forgiveness is given to those who need it. Won-mi and Dong-gu are expecting and so on.
Jin-joo lived up to her title as Golden Bride. I love how the writers summed it all up. It was nice to see that Jun-woo and Jin-joo are well off and are still happy with Woo-joo. How cute! (Jun-WOO -n- Jin-JOO)
I was so curious to know what the message says at the end.
(translation posted has been removed by anne, pls refer to this website, All About Heenim for the translation. — edited by anne @ 5:23 PM 2/4/2008)
What a wonderful ending message that sums up the journey that our favorite couple has taken. I’ve enjoyed our journey together and hope our paths cross again for another K-drama.
I hope to see SCU on the screen again soon, after some much needed rest of course, as well as LYA who I’ve read is already doing another drama. Hope these two get paired up for another drama someday. They have the best chemistry I’ve seen so far.
[Reply]
aaah it is really over. What can I say it was wonderful to have done this journey with all of you guys. I sniffled so much in the last episode, then i thought of you guys and more sniffling. Gosh I hope we get a new 60 some episode drama to talk about soon. snif snif. at least I can now start plotting my GB season 2. I’ll post as soon as I finish writting episode 1. I was a bit taken a back by YM and JY love still going on. She looks like she purposefully made it look like David was her new lover. I guess somethings never change. I love all of you guys!
[Reply]
Another drama that has 60 episodes? Count me out.
You’re writing Golden Bride fanfic? Wonderful. I would like to read more about Junwoo and Jinjoo, their trip to Turkey, whatever mushy stuff you want to make them say, I’m all ears.
[Reply]
Yes, yes. I am waiting for Sun and Moon. Let them have a baby ‘Made in Turkey’
It will be nice since Young Soo told Jin Joo to call him Oppa then I think Well Being Food and Jin Joo rice cake store should have a partnership. She can helped the business where Ji Young was trying to establish it for the investment.
Of course I will not have Jin Joo’s mother and Mrs Kim all under one roof but they should treat each other like extended family and it is great with this reunion, Jin Joo no longer fault herself on her existence ruining lives. Jun Woo was right. What about the lives she saved - The Kangs
Just a few plots you might like to consider. No obligations.
Long drama episodes, err…like the period dramas, I leave it to my sister to feed me the updates or better still if it is that good, watch the DVD.
Some good long dramas in my list
Hearts of Nineteen (Pure in Heart) - 129 episodes (but half an hour series)
Famous Princesses (Infamous Chil Sisters) - 80 episodes
(I loved the romance of the 2nd sister who is the Army Captain with the Fashion Designer student.
Talking about a persistent lover, he made the cut)
Love in Heaven - 85 epiosdes
(Next to Jun Woo, Gu Wang Mo is the next best k-drama husband I know)
I think the length of episodes are something like that.
[Reply]
So the message that scrolls on the screen of the last scene was name “Blessing of the Apaches”? Someone post it over on Youtube.

Apache Wedding Blessing - Marriage Prayer
Now you will feel no rain,
for each of you will be shelter for the other.
Now you will feel no cold,
for each of you will be warmth for the other.
Now there is no more loneliness.
Now you are two persons,
but there is only one life before you.
May your days together be good and long
upon the earth.

annepdy, your account was suspended! what happened?!?

Watching the final two episodes yesterday strike me that all the characters has their own envisioned what love is
Mrs Kang was right that there isn’t only one type of love. She found herself found her own peaceful love after popping pills herself when Mr Kim broke off with her. She had a wonderful Mr Kang to comfort and care for her
Mrs Kim was devasted when Mr Kim did not love her like she did. However, her love is deep for someone who she has loved since she was 15 years old. She is forgiving too.
Jin Joo’s mother can only fall back on memories of the love shared with her and Mr Kim when they were younger. He is no longer hers now. But her life is not been a waste as she has a wonderful daughter.
Mr Kim despite everything now realised the woman for him indeed is Mrs Kim and waited for forgiveness
Ji Young knows now that her grandeur of what she thought of love is false because the person she love most is herself. At least it still some sort of love
Young Min’s illusion of the person without a past is non existence. He did apologised for not upholding his promise of being with Ji Young forever.
Young Soo and Sae Mi’s love shows that love will prevailed in a matter of time. They gave it the opportunity to develop to something steadfast
Dong Gu and Won Mi showed that they conquered anything together including a difficult mother-in-law
Jun Woo promised Jin Joo that they may not be always happy but they will go through it as long as they are together. Of course Jun Woo requires Jin Joo because she is like the air he breaths.
Jin Joo found a love and a loving family where she dare to charter a foreign country at the age of 21 years old. She dare make a risk and gained bountifully from the experience.
Can they be a lesson to us all?
