  Oh was surprised and she asked whether she had heard the instruction clearly. Lee repeated “Oh Seung Ah ssi, please change your clothes changed. Eun Young is a 7 years old.” Oh replied that “Eun Young should be 25 years, to which Lee replied back that only her body. Oh said that the clothes was already at it was, and required to follow the body shape of the wearer.

  

  Lee refused to stand down “If a 7 years old child was trying to act like an adult, she wouldn’t be wearing those clothes too. Please follow the character description and change the clothes. Oh insisted she doesn’t understand. She then asked for a 5 minutes break. She left the set and followed by the press who was covering the shoot. Jang tried to stop the storming press.

  

  Lee and Oh played a waiting game. It was now 2 hours since the instruction was given. The shop staff was already complaining that it was holding up her business, as they were only to rent her shop front for only an hour. Asst PD Choe was apologising to the staff

  

  Let us rename our Director Hong and addressed him as Cameraman Hong. Cameraman Hong said it looked like it was trouble from Day One. Chicken shop PD, we shall address him as Lighting PD. Lighting PD slapped Cameraman Hong’s back of the head for talking nonsense. Lighting PD asked Lee to go and take a look. It was suppose to be just 5 mins, if this was not resolved, it may lead to 5 hours and he asked Lee to coax Oh and invited her back to the set. Lee being stubborn said it was not the first time that an actor had walked out from his set before. Lighting PD asked who was the person who taught him about this.

  

  Lighting PD’s advice, another Chicken story. “You came to eat fried chicken because you like it, but you get served bean paste Chicken instead, you will definitely get upset. Coming from someone else, it may not be so. Asst PD Choes asked whether they can try to persuade her and went out to do so. Cameraman Hong volunteered to the errand as he was an expert in coaxing girls and then received another slap on the head from Lighting PD to shut up

  

  Asst PD Choe was outside Oh’s MPV (Multi Purpose Vehicles). I don’t know how to define this large looking vans that look like amoured cars. Asst PD Choe persuaded Oh to return to the set as everybody was waiting. Oh’s assistant who was standing outside asked that they shouldn’t have treated Oh as such, and should had asked Cherry to change then this problem wouldn’t have occurred. This act of hers had resulted in a lost in shooting time. They have just shot two scenes. Asst PD Choe went banging on the car door

  

  Oh was having her headphone on. Jang called her, but she didn’t acknowledged. Then Jang pulled off her earplugs.

  

  Jang: I’m also angry. I too. But what Lee said was right. The more you delay, people will said that you are a mad woman

  Oh: Mad woman?

  Jang: Refused an award already had a swamp of bad press behind you. Do you want a repeat again by refusing to shoot?

  Oh: Isn’t it your job too stop them? You think earning my money is so easy.

  Jang: The reporters can be stopped physically but it is their mouths we can’t shut. Quickly change. You need to shoot, you have to

  Oh: Because need to that why have to stir some trouble for 2 hours

  Jang: Learning is the best tool to see the differences between good and evil

  Oh: Don’t ever use these lectures to test me

  Jang: Then you must change your clothes

  

  Jang opened the car door and asked Oh’s Assistant if there was anything else suitable to wear. The Assistant said there wasn’t any. Jang asked her whether she had read the script. “Do you the meaning of a 7 years old” shouting at the Assistant. Oh asked why he didn’t use that tone on her just now. Oh asked her Assistant to come into the car and asked her to remove her clothes which caught her Assistant with surprise. Oh said that she was asked to change to a 7 years old clothes. This time she will conceived to Lee, but if she changed and Lee doesn’t like it, then Lee had to asked Cherry to change hers.

  

  This drama badly need what we called in the business a Wardrobe mistress. She was responsible for the entire wardrobe of all the actors and actress with clothes approved by the Director or the Studio head. There never have this wardrobe hiccup if this person is around. Even if the clothes got soiled, there was always another identical set. Is it a common practise in Korea, where the Actors and Actresses have to come on set with their own wardrobe, even so, should they be at least have some approval from the Director to see whether they are deem suitable. Dressing up in clothes that you are going to attend a daytime cocktail function as daily working clothes was beyond believed sometimes.

  Jang went to Lee on this matter. Jang said Oh will changed hers. Lee asked when will she be out. Jang said he was sorry, but he needed Lee to asked Cheer to change hers. “This is about the woman’s self esteem, being asked to change in front of her Junior. It will leave an unsettling impression on set. Jang pleaded with Lee

  

  Cherry was shocked when the instruction came in that she needed to change her clothes too, in which she refused. Her Assistant said almost the same thing “You are a 31 years old Doctor but looked like a 21 years old University student” Assistant reminded her that even Oh Seung Ah was made embarrassed by this incident and went on to change her clothes. Oh Seung Ah didn’t dare to defy the PD. Why should Cherry defy him? If she went on with these delay tactics then Oh Seung Ah’s delay will be on her account. Cherry then asked how long Oh asked for her break. 5 minutes. Cherry said she will out in 10 minutes. She mentioned that because she was the main female lead.

  

  Cherry and Oh finally shot the scene

  

  Eun Young: I’m Go Eun Young

  Eun Sok: I….who I am….do you know?

  Eun Young: I know. You are Eun Sok onni.

  Eun Sok hugged Eun Young

  

  Eun Sok: I missed you, really missed you

  Eun Young: Ah! Me too

  Lee: Cut!!!

  Cherry repelled away from Oh like she was a leper

  It was a wrap. Asst PD Choe announced that the next scene will be at the clinic / hospital

  Lee let out a big sigh that today was finally a wrap.

  Cameraman Hong complained that outdoor locations, artiste quality of performance. Death was just round the corner. They have not even eaten

  Lighting PD advised Lee that it had started and there was no turning back, just need to look forward. Lee sat at his chair to watch the montage of the crew clearing the set.

  

  A very big mistake not to feed the crew. First rule always must keep the food and beverage free flowing for the crew to make them happy. In my time, we had a catering mobile outside the location for crew to have some bite or drink, usually a hot brew strong coffee that can keep you eyes wide open. Where was the workers union for this?

  Seo was at an interview. Reporter, the same one who did Oh’s earlier on, asked whether Oh snubbed her on the book she read and she asked the Reporter whether she read all the author’s book by naming the titles. This information was search from the net via her mobile. Seo posed eagerly at the camera. Reporter asked how Seo felt that the drama was starting to shoot today. Seo said she was excited. This was her first time writing this kind of lofty drama and she was very worry. Reporter told her she was too humble that those who have seen and read the script, said it was well written. Seo was surprised or whether she was faking it “Why read the script, they should see the drama” The Reporter said she eagerly awaited for see it. Reporter went on to as about collaboration with Oh, was it delightful. Seo said Oh was great, she was the country’s vixen and most suitable for the character, doesn’t have Top Star attitude and was very polite. Reporter was not going to believe on what Seo had just said. Reporter asked that there was suspicion on Oh’s acting abilities. Seo denied that because Oh was so beautiful that it surpassed her actual acting abilities and never was told she can’t. Once you see the drama then no one will be suspicious on it anymore.

  

  Reporter went on. “There was a few dramas where you like the main leads. Oh Seung Ah or Cherry.” Seo said it will be difficult choice to make as she had a weakness, once she wrote the script not only for the main lead even the supporting cast was the same. PD said I will be tired because I’m too involved in the production. I had my advantages but the PD Lee would have none of it. Reporter mentioned PD Lee was very stubborn. Just now I was covering the set and the set was delay for two hours. Seo was shocked at what she had heard.

  

  Seo then called her Assistant to ask her to check the schedule an the progress. Assistant confirmed that they had only shot three scenes. She asked her to call Asst PD Choe to find out where Lee was and to let her know. PD Lee called to say he will be at the TV Station. Seo then did a spot checked on her Assistant on what she was doing right now. Assistant said that Asst PD Choe had a rough time today. Seo warned her Assistant not to do anything that was not her (Seo) instructions.

  

  Seo then called her mother to say she was coming to her restaurant. Seo came for a take away packed food. Seo’s mother queried who it was for. Seo answered that success of the drama depended on this someone and she needed to feed him. Seo’s mother was curious who this person was. Was the person rumoured to be Oh Seung Ah’s supposingly man. It looked like Aden had become an Ajumma killer. Seo was flabbergasted that her mother would think of such nonsense.

  

  Seo’s mother suggested that Seo to bring Oh over to her restaurant to to be seen that her place got Oh’s ‘endorsement’. Seo said she doesn’t do such gimmick. Seo’s mother saw that Seo’s hair was getter thinner and said to herself whether Seo had been on an overdrive mode with her brain lately.

  Seo’s packed food was for Lee and she was happy watching him eat it. Lee said it was delicious and he should sent his compliments to her mother for him. Seo served him a beverage from a flask

  

  She was actually fishing information for what had happened today.

  Seo: How was today’s shoot, successful?

  Lee: It was a disaster

  Seo: I heard. News spread fast, so you are feeling depressed because you got into trouble

  Lee: There is some truth because of this episode, you can see I am just a fresh Director

  Seo: If it was, it is because there was something all PDs have but you don’t.

  Seo goes out to get a huge box, opened and unfolded it. It was a Director deck chair with ‘Lee Kyung Min’ written on the chair rest. Seo asked whether he liked it, in which Lee nodded. Seo asked with all she had done, shouldn’t she at least get a smile from Lee. She had given so many hints. Lee managed to laugh. Seo assured that it was too difficult to shoot, doesn’t he wanted her to tone down Eun Sok and Eun Young’s characters.

  

  Lee said for the two sisters to be separated for twenty years and to meet again, if the characters got tone down, then there wouldn’t be anything worth watching. Seo said that it looked like Lee was not too tired after all. Seo cheered Lee on.

  

  Lee gave a try on his chair, practising his director calls on it, looking at it from a distance.

  

  Jang took his two male staff to have sand bath. The day after tomorrow they will acting as patients in Eun Sok clinic for eating disorder. One was fat and the other was thin. Then a call came from Oh to asked ‘What sort of joke was he playing’. Didn’t he said that he will stopped the reporters. Jang went onto the net to see that Oh was on top list at the net search

  Jang went on damage control. Jang used persuasion and threats to have the issue settled with the reporters.

  

  Seo’s office. Fat Lady agent showed Seo the choice of posters. There was A, B, C, and asked her to chose. Oh chose A, Cherry chose B and Lee chose C. Seo asked if there was a D option. Fat lady agent didn’t take kindly to that remark. Seo then agreed that it should be C. If there was any comments it will be said that it had the approval of the writer and the PD. Seo then said that the both actresses acting ability was already poor and using clothing issue as an excuse to stir trouble and sold it as headlines. Fat Lady agent praised that Jang could managed to settle the whole issue overnight.

  

  Seo said, “Of course, he had wealth, even bankrupt he can sustained for another 3 years. Midas touch Jang.”. Oh and Cherry dare not uttered another word in front of Jang. They are such rivals. Seo then commented on Oh’s personnal details that her birthdate was not listed. Assistant then answered it was “831105″ Seo was curious how she knew. Assistant had seen Oh’s passport details. Cherry’s actual name was Yu Soon Jang and Asst PD Choe who looked much older than her (Assistant) was of the same year. Seo asked not to reveal this to anyone. Fat lady reminded that the overseas location shoot will be in a week time. The matter of urgency was not the overseas location shoot. Seo asked the Fat lady to tag along and asked the Assistant to repeat Oh’s birthdate

  

  I can’t believe that the ladies went to consult a Shaman priest. Holding two straw effigy while the Shaman was chanting away, then whisked at the effigy. Seo asked if the fortunes were good for the fifth month. Shaman sprinkled some rice on the table. Shaman asked whether they were going overseas. Seo confirmed it and the Shaman priest went on with his rice sprinkling a few time and told them it was a No, Can’t do it. It will be a disaster.

  

  Then the Shaman went on about the Cat and Mouse story . Seo was the cat’s collar ribbon until the Fat lady agent finally understood what he was trying to said, clapped her hand and praised him Bravo. Fat lady agent asked Seo to be nice to Oh. It was then revealed that Oh was the cat and Seo was the mouse.

  

  At Seo’s mother restaurant. PD Yun gave Seo an airline. Lee wanted her at the location. Fat lady agent asked why did the Writer need to go on location. PD Yun explained “International Dialing call to Seo was not too good an idea. It was going to be there that the ending and the theme will be shot as for the individual episodes were yet to be completed. The middle of the story wasstill oblivious, and it was only known to Seo. So he asked PD Yun to put Seo’s name on the list.

  

  On the way to the airport. Entourage of buses and trucks of equipment. PD Yun were checking at the cargo. Assistant PD Choe said this was the last of it and asked if someone was receiving it from Taiwan side. PD Yun said there isn’t any, they will have to inform Taiwan airport, the authorities will let them check.

  

  To bring equipments into another country will be liable for taxes. This was considered by most as an import. There were always some paper work done that the equipments were to be declared as on transit, so they will not be taxed. The list had to made of all equipments coming in and the same equipments had to return exactly out of the country. Most countries want to protect their own film industry and will encouraged to source the equipment locally. In the event there isn’t any technology available then it can be brought in.

  

  PD Yun will not be on this trip and will come on a later flight once she settled everything in Korea. PD Yun handed to Assistant PD Choe the boarding pass and return tickets of the PDs and Artiste and said to look after them well. Then she passed the expenses money to Assistant PD Choes to handle it and not to forget the receipts until she came over. Assistant PD Choe assured her. Assistant Choe said that Aden was away in a shoot and was delayed. He will be back in 3 days and asked PD Yun to book his flight. PD Yun looked at her watch and said that it was time to board.

  

  Seo was at home packing her bags. Chun Yu looked on. Mother and Son were so cute, each giving the other reminders.

  Seo: Don’t watch too much TV and limit the computer games to just 1 hour

  Chun Yu: Don’t forget your passport

  Seo: Listen to Ajimoni. Remember to go to school on time

  Chun Yu: Please eat well and try not to be a scatterbrain. If you have nothing important, don’t make an international call

  Seo: I bought you ice cream and it is in the freezer. You can only eat one a day

  Chun Yu: If I eat two and tell you that I had one, you wouldn’t be here to see it

  Seo: Why shouldn’t I not know? I can read through you when you lied. You just like your father….

  

  Seo stopped short of that and asked why Ajimoni was so late. Chun Yu said he will be fine even if he was alone. Ajimoni came and apologise to Seo that she wanted to resign from the job as she had some matters at home. Seo told her that it was rather short notice and she was now rushing to the airport. Chun Yu asked whether his mother had done anything to Ajimoni to make her want to resign. Ajimoni said that her mother didn’t do such thing. Seo asked was there anything not to her satisfaction, maybe was it the wages. At that moment Lee called to say he was downstairs. Seo then asked Ajimoni to stay on until she returned from Taiwan.

  

  Ajimoni had hid from Lee that she was working as a household Ajumma. It was now getting to close for comfort when she found out the Seo was on the same drama team with her son.

  Seo continued her episode of Ajimoni in Lee’s car. Lee then said it must had been Seo’s fault. Seo said the Ajimoni treated her son like her own grandson and Chun Yu liked so much, how could she possibly treat her badly.

  

  Oh went to the airport lounge and saw Cherry. Cherry must have sold the news to the press.

  Cherry: Soo Bae Nim (Senior) Congratulations. You had topped the headlines

  Oh took off her sunshades and walked towards Cherry, taking a glass of water / coffee. Cherry tried to cover her face expecting the worse but Oh was only twirling the glass

  Cherry: That…put it down or else drink it up

  Oh: Hey, you prink (or something of that name calling). Want to yield, then yield to the end. Want to contradict, then contradict to the end. choose which one

  Cherry:W….what?

  Oh: You still don’t understand, I am asking you to choose.

  Cherry took her hands down and put off guard.

  Oh: Choose what? I don’t have the time. You are one hard act to follow.

  This time Oh really threw the content of the glass at Cherry’s face, getting her all drenched wet

  Cherry: What is this…coffee…the stain can’t be wash out. You are too much. Yah! Are you crazy?

  Oh: So you are angry. If you were willing to yield, it could have been just water. Why looked for trouble and then get baptised (or exorcised) by coffee. You might not have remember. Be careful that you don’t get crossed me again. This warning have only a limited period if you didn’t about know it. Coffee I have drank (drench). Are you leaving?

  

  Plane took off

  In first class was Seo and Oh

  Business class. Jang, Lee and Cherry (who was still wiping the coffee stain off. She should at least have a change of clothes in her hand luggage. It was a traveller basic need to have a change of clothes. Anyway, I do when I travelled because you do not what accident you might run into. Not that I was ever been thrown coffee at my face but I might perhaps spilled coffee on myself)

  Economy second Deck. Assistant PD Choe, Seo’s Assistant and the rest of the crew, looked like a market place.

  

  Sceneries of Taiwan. Preparation of shoot

  

  Boom Mic fitted with a flurry cover. It was common used during outdoor location to record sound. It will cut unwanted exterior noises and act as a wind breaker. Wind sound were easily get recorded, but you may not these type of sound heard on film. Those wind sounds were always orchestrated. The actual raw winds sounded terrible. In a digital format sound and picture are in the same format disc. The external equipments are all in sync via infrared. If it was film, where sound and film are recorded separately then the sync will done by a clapper loader. You must have seen in movies where there is a board with a clap on it. The loader usually announce the scene and take for syncing purpose. At Video digital format it is now more simpler.

  PD Yun went through the schedule. They were going to shoot at the location (the hotel) for 3 days, then Hua Lian for the next2 days then to Taipei, that night they will fly back to Korea. Seo said that the schedule was too tight. The journey to locations took up so much travelling time, whether they will be anymore time to shoot. PD Yun said as long we followed strictly to it, it shouldn’t be.

  

  A schedule with no room for contigency was really heading for disaster. Nothing was ever perdictable. Lee told that if the script was already written before, then they wouldn’t have come to this. Hinting to Seo that was partially her fault. PD Yun reminded them that the return flight cannot be changed (Another mistake for not having it as an open ticket), they need to follow through at all cost. Lee said if the weather permitted it will be alright.

  

  Lee asked what was the best time Seo could delivered him the ending. Seo asked whether in his eyes was she being perceived as to not being doing anything. She was thinking hard on it. Seo called her “love bird” Assistant to come with her. Assistant wanted to stay longer to see Assistant PD Choe worked, as he was so macho. Seo then gave her a death stare for her to follow her immediately.

  

  Oh’s hotel room, she was having make up done. Jang was looking at the scenery from the balcony. Assistant asked Oh to choose her wardrobe. Jang saw that Oh was not well in her health condition. The Assistant whispered that Oh was having her “monthly”. I am sure all women will know what is all about. I will not procced any further than that. As Oh was changing behind the changing screen, Jang being a righteous man to turn his back as not to look and asked if she was alright. Oh said there was no need for concern. As they were leaving they met Seo.

  

  Seo: It is your 1st scene and it should be at the swimming pool scene.

  Oh: The overseas location shoot first scene having actress to be so revealing. it must be for the ratings. When you wrote it, what were you thinking of?

  Seo then recalled what the Shaman priest said about cat and ribbons. Seo controlled herself and advised Oh not to be nervous.

  Seo: If you feel that the food here is not suitable to your taste, I have brought a lot of chilli paste. They come in various flavours, in tubes. So when you eating this like soup base, you just squeeze some on to it, to give it some kick. I bought a box of these Chilli paste on board Korean Airlines In flight shop. There are not too bad.

  Jang: Your chlli paste is it with the pink ribbon (must be a trade mark brand)

  Seo was shocked that Jang should know and asked whether he consult the same Shaman, which Jang look bemused. Jang asked Oh to carry on to the set as he wanted to have a word with Seo

  Oh: Are you going her room with her to discuss?

  Seo: If she likes him, there is no choice

  Oh walked off

  Seo: Come in

  Jang: Are you by any chance going to change your clothes?

  Seo was surprised

  

  Seo served coffee and asked what was the subject of discussion. Jang was feeling uneasy.

  

  Jang:This is a 16 episodes drama. In my experienceI known very well, once the drama proceed in length, the actors tend have another set of emotion that the begining & changes, so the scene that was shoot earlier will have been deemed obselete, so….

  Seo:So?

  Jang: We all know of what is in the begining and the actors will get the grasp of their charcters.

  Seo: I have already sent a synopsis on it. Didn’t you read it?

  Jang: I have read it. But as you said that the synopsis doesn’t consider the character’s emotions in it. You should know Oh is not a natural talent. Can you added more precise details to it? It will be 100% better than chilli paste

  Seo: Yes. really! Is this Oh first. Emotions, dialogues and script all in front her. Why being so difficult? Can’t she read? This is Eun Young and Eun Sok last meal together. It is a sad trip. Just follow it and it will fine

  Jang: Sad, what degree of sadness should it be? Happy, what degree of happiness should it be? Now there is nothing to grab on

  Seo: A person who takes 4,000 per episode, would say this. If she has no natural talent, asked her to learn. Why sent her Manager her to have a discussion with the writer?

  Jang: Seo!

  Seo: You are also the same. No matter how good or bad, you just pass it to her. That way it is seen that she may have some potential. Persuade her not to failed in her acting

  Jang:If you are going to lose your temper, I will be difficult. Reading the second and third version of that brief synopsis. I need your detail explaination

  Seo: Where do I have the time for detail explaination? I have to rush for the ending, it has not been completed, that is why I am here. I am not here on vacation, having fun, but brought to do my work here. The scenes don’t require many emotions scenes

  Jang: Brought the drama, not many emotions scenes. How can this pull through? This is 16 episodes. The ending can’t be shot just like that

  

  Seo walked off dejectedly recalling what Jang had just said

  Seo then looked up and was shocked to see Lee washing his hand in the sink

  

  Seo: Why are you doing here?

  Lee: Is the ending not going so smoothly for you?

  Seo: This is not the place to say it now

  Lee: I asked you because of the ending was on your mind, you had wandered elsewhere that now you are trespassing into the men’s toilet.

  Seo woke up and looked at her surroundings and indeed she was at the men’s when she saw the urinals.

  

  Seo: I’m going crazy. I’m so deep in my thoughts. Sorry!!!

  Lee: Seo?

  Seo: Why?

  Lee: Aren’t we doing well?

  Seo: On what?

  Lee: Schedule is so tight. If there isn’t many NGs, it can be completed on schedule

  NGs = No good, Usually most drama may show it as bloopers.

  Lee: I don’t know whether they (actors) are able to grasp the emotions of the drama. I am starting to panic.

  Seo: Relax! Slowly!

  Lee: I should. From Episode 6-16, there is so many hurdles to cross

  Asst PD Choe: What are you doing? Come out. It starting

  

  Swimming pool scene.

  Let me do some explainations on how a shooting on set is run. No one except the Director or PD here can command instructions. You cannot stop shooting until the the Director say “Cut” The Director have full control of the set

  Standby - everybody should be at their position

  Eun Young: Why do you always said “I’m sorry”. Mother and Father at the hospital also said “I’m sorry” then went away to heaven. This word is not good to use

  Lee asked why Eun Sok had red nail polish on her nails. Cherry apologised and Lee asked her to remove it. While Cherry was away, Lee decided to do the close up shot of Eun Young. Oh was having difficulty with continuity. Continuity is a great rule in film. It there is any flaws then it will get spotted by viewers, who are not very educated in watching dramas. In the movie ‘Out of Africa’ was so full of them and yet because of the actors & actress magnificent performance. It won an Oscar for it. See what great performing acting can do for the film. Lee asked for retakes after retakes

  

  In a scene.There was always a master shot, then it consist of several cuts. So a scene will be played for a few times. It was the actors reponsibilty to be able to repeat the same performance over and over again. Even the great trespian Lwarence Olivier couldn’t handle the movie business, because of the cuts. It curbbed the actors performance flow.

  Cameraman Hong also had a wonderful time zooming in on Oh’s legs.

  Lighting PD used a reflector (a white board under Oh’s side - out of camera of course). This was to catch some extra natural light to have a better glow on the face. Reflector also can come in foils as well.

  

  After the many retakes, Oh got a bit pissed and she went to put on her robe and demanded why there were so many retakes

  Lee: There isn’t any feelings

  Oh: Where was it wrong?

  Lee: Wish you could be more settled. Don’t come as though you are unprepared

  Oh: I’m already settled as it is

  Lee: Then put more effort

  Oh: Already done that. If you redo it again, it will be the same. Why the retakes?

  Lee: Oh Seung Ah’s chair, please bring it next to me. Please take a seat & come and see what had been taken

  

  Lee had the shots rewinded to let Oh have a look at her own performance

  Lee: This is what the viewers are going to see

  Oh: There is always editing

  One of the best excuse or pushing the buck (reponsibility) by the production, was to believe that in the post production, where editing, sound and effect comes in can performed miracles by just mere push of buttons. In my own career, I have to rescue materials that are just utter rubbish to something respectable. It was madnesss to think that they believe we can do wonders when the production screwed it all up. You are left with the materials and the production had been all wrapped up and all gone home

  Oh: Then shoot it part by part, with this, it will be alright.

  

  This technique is very familiar and used in Hong Kong. Because of the normal set up are time consuming with the repeat performance. The Director shot different angles by cuts without any master shot. If these cut are badly shot, that will be the death of your film. It was rather risky. This technique were used in many ‘wushu’ (martial arts) movie especially the ones produced by Shaw Brothers

  Lee: I asked you can’t allowed the viewers to see this.

  Lee asked why Cherry was taking so long to remove cutex from her nails.

  Asst PD Choe asked Cherry’s Assistant to hurry her up

  Nightfall. Playing with fireworks. Eun Young was having fine time with the fire sparklers

  

  Restaurant scene. Both sisters having their “last supper” together. Eun Young was making a comment that she knew how to cut meat with fork and knife.

  

  Boom operator, the one who was holding the mic was dozing off and the mic was seen on the shot. Lighting PD had to use some water spray to wake him up

  Restaurant scene ended, everybody was bushed. Crew were now getting really tired. Assistant PD Choe announced that the next scene was in an hour and asked them to freshen up their face.

  Cameraman Hong said if he could have 40 winks. The film industry is a sleep deprived occupation.

  Next day. Market place. The sisters were selecting which earrings to buy. Crew were doing crowd control duty from bystanders. Looked more like a mock up on a street. As they will be going to do tight angle shoot on the actress, there was no need for other surroundings. This shot could have been done anywhere.

  

  Journey to the next location. Tracking shot on the bus aisle of a very worn down sleeping crew.

  Seaside. Tarako National Park

  Local Crew were mounting to a boycott in protest.

  PD Yun: Night shots for one or two days is normal. Why can’t you said it can’t be complete? Everybody here had not had a decent slept. Why the sudden decision to say that is not possible?

  Asst PD Choe went to Lee to ask what should they do.

  Asst PD Choe: The Taiwan crew wants to leave.

  Lee: Why?

  Asst PD Choe: They said they can’t go on, as they have not slept for two days

  Cameraman Hong: What they said it is true. Other countries the crew would have left without a word. They have been very polite

  Lighting PD: Actually it is a pity for the crew, if this was someone shooting set. Either get a replacement team or coax them. We will lose daylight.

  PD Yun: I will pay extra, don’t stand here and get ready. Why are you all being this way?

  

  A Taiwan Crew that spoke Korean

  Taiwan crew: It is not the money. It is a matter of principals. The working hours that can’t exceed 8 hours. We have no choice. We have already been very accomadating for you. You are to abide by the contract sign. We are in difficult stand here.

  Taiwan crew was protesting. This is the problem when someone who did the schedule thought that everything will perfect. We always have to bear in mind that there are two things that beyond our control. One is the weather, the other is human resources. It you get uphappy crew, this is what you get

  Lee asked to shoot this scene and let them go. Assistant PD Choe reminded that the next scene that was left was the night scene. Lee said they had no choice, they had to find another way. He went to call Seo

  Lee: There is a problem that have arise. Can we do the day scene for night scene?

  Seo: How can you say that, can we shot night for day? That is the only scene that have to be shot in the day. Do you want to bring the rainbow to the night. The main theme to that scene is the rainbow.

  

  (I would think some animation will do the tricks. It is possible. Lighting can be done to make night to day. A good prizam might do the trick)

  Lee: I know it is the main theme, so that is why I’m calling you. Please rewrite the scenes that can subsititute this scene with the same feel. There is no time to find another location. You need to write something at the hotel as the background.

  Seo: Are we shooting at Hua Lian? Why don’t you find somewhere suitable to shoot it?

  Lee: Tomorrow is tomorrow’s schedule. If we delayed any longer, we will never finished

  Seo: Writer has to take into consideration the locations to write the script. Now the ending I have not written it yet that time

  Lee: 20,000 per episode, can’t make you come up with something good

  Seo: Why is everybody bring out their wages as an excuse?

  

  Lee: I don’t have time to continue this in detail with you. I beg you to come out with one better. I’m already anxious. Listen to me!

  Lee cuts Seo off and left Seo flabbergasted at his request

  Seo: Do you know what he just said? Listen to me (It is more “obey”)

  Asst: Which scene is that?

  Seo: I don’t know, give me the script.

  Asst: I left it behind it my room

  Seo: I should have left you behind would have be right. Quickly get it.

  Asst: Yes

  As the Assistant left the room towards the door the light casted a shadow on the floor

  Seo: Wait a moment

  Asst: Why?

  

  It gave Seo an idea. Seo frantically typing on her notebook

  Asst: Please eat

  Seo still continued with her typing

  Asst: Do you want me to feed you?

  Seo still carried on

  Asst: If you don’t eat, I can’t eat mine

  Seo finished typing and saved it

  Seo: Set up the printer.

  Asst: It is in the room. Bring this up, it will be faster

  Seo: I did asked you to get it ready

  Asst: I forgot while making the sandwich. I will print for you.

  Seo: Make 5 copies. The location crew haven’t contact yet.

  Asst: Yes, they have not

  Seo went to lie down on the sofa exhausted.

  Background

  Asst PD Choe: Dinner one hour to regroup

  Asst: PD Lee have just returned

  Seo: Is it?

  Dinner

  Seo suggested that they use shadow play and riddles for the visual for the significant journey of Eun Young. Although Eun Young physically is 7 years old in mentality, with disability and flaws but her shadow doesn’t have that flaw, it will be seen as Eun Young’s image of maturity. The constrast is seen when Eun Young’s shadow was stronger that Eun Sok, it the constract of the light. Seo asked Lee how was it. Lee said it will be difficult to shoot but compare to the rainbow, this was better. Seo wandered if Oh was going to jump at the script changes.

  

  Oh’s hotel room

  Oh wasn’t happy at all to be informed of the changes. They must be crazy to see come to overseas location shoot and changed the script in the middle of shooting. This cannot be it. Jang said it was a better script compare to the previous one. Oh confessed that her ability may not be able to meet on par with expectations. Jang asked her to put her best efforts. Oh asked Why? Does he think she will embarassed him? Why do I need to shoot such a lofty drama? Oh left the table to prepare.

  

  Swimming pool scene a few pretty paper boats floating. While playing the paper boat Eun Sok discovered Eun Young’s shadow on the wall. Eun Young’s shadow was bigger on the wall than her sister, Eun Sok. The one who was stand further. Eun Young looked at her shadow

  

  Eun Young: I’m not picky. Everything I will eat is delicious. But my shadow doesn’t have any flaws?

  Eun Sok: Hmmm?

  Eun Young: People said that I have flaws

  Eun Sok: Eun Young, is it better to live with me? Stay back in Korea?

  Eun Young shook her head

  Eun Young: No.

  Eun Sok: Why?

  Eun Young: Onni, you like Mr Aden, for me it is an adversity

  Oh actually cannot pull off the emotion of Eun Young and went on to the roll of having many retakes. Lee was getting worked up and start shouting at Oh for not being in sync with the character’s emotion. As the night progress it was still no go. Seo came to watch. Oh asked for a 5 minutes break and Lee refused her flat. Jang wasn’t pleased with Lee’s attitude towards Oh

  Oh: Can’t I have a 5 minutes break?

  Lee: NO, there is no time now.

  Oh: Because of the script change, so I have not grasped into the script. Just give me some time.

  Lee: Those who are here, who hasn’t got any script changes

  

  Lee stood up and started shouting. Jang probably couldn’t stand it any longer

  Jang: Get up!

  

  Oh was blanked and just sat there

  Seo: Jang?

  Jang: Didn’t you hear? Get up!

  Oh didn’t move, Jang walked towards her, picked Oh by her hand and left the set. Lee was angry and confronted Jang. Seo came along. Jang and Lee looked as if they are coming into blows. Both men snorting as though they were a pair of bulls in the ring

  

  

  Preview.

  This is the dialogue that ran through the preview. It may not be in sequence to the next episode

  Oh: Jang?

  Lee and Seo followed

  Lee: What are you doing!!!!

  Jang: Don’t you know? To let an artiste sit there for 3 hours. but you don’t have the slightest common courtesy as a PD

  Lee: Performances is the actor’s responsiblity. How can a PD explains from A-Z?

  Jang: Don’t you know about this

  Seo: No matter how angry you are, you shouldn’t do that

  Jang: Why shouldn’t I!!!

  Jang: We have not even complete Episode 1 & 2. Then go out to shoot Episode 16’s ending. The script is just reach Episode 6th. The middle 9 episodes what is it, we still don’t know. If I want to shoot this mushy script, then my artiste….

  Oh: Enough. that is enough.

  Jang: I’m sorry

  Oh: I’m your artiste

  Another scene

  Oh: This word to whom you have said this to.

  Jang: Here you go again? Aren’t you touch?

  Oh to Lee

  Oh: The script we are going to shoot it well. Whatever we think, but if we don’t receive directions from the PD, it will never improve. So I beg you can you help me to do just that.

  Lee to Seo

  Lee: I know that sooner or later I will collabrate with you and you will know that we will have very aggressive arguements and will be tired by it as well

  Extra footage from the soccer match. Don’t they look to have so much fun

  Oh got to do free kicks and scored, must to the amazement of the people on the field. The fat lady agent who was the goolie gave her a thumb up. Lee clapped and Oh got High Tens from her team members

  Seo kicked the ball into Lee’s crouch and he almost fainted

  Shirt pulling by Seo and Lee. They resorted to hand fights

  Shirt dragging by Oh and Jang. Jang almost dragging Oh behind him

  Tussling for the ball with more shirt pulling

  Oh got hit by the ball with her hand (handball)

  PD Yun got hit by the ball in her face accidentally. (I would think this actually happen and it was not called for in the script)

  Seo ran around like chicken without a head.

  Jang about to kick the ball, when Oh stopped him from doing so by pulling his shirt.

  It really looked there were some rough playing
