I remember that once I was doing a shower cream commercial for Asia market, where the product require endorsement from various fame female artiste. The Asia market was Ms Maggie Cheung, the South East Asia market was a Top television Drama queen. But due to that she wasn’t proficient in English. The end tag line of the endorsement of product, we had almost had 217 takes of her saying that line. After 2 meal break & several coffee breaks, we managed to get her to say properly. The poor Director had to play Professor Higgins on the shoot to practice her phonetics with her. The whole crew wanted to strangle for keeping them up. What to do she is the Star?

Oh started to rehearse her lines. Seo is pleased with the progress.

Asst: The ratings is so good, we can’t allow it to be snatch it away. You definitely need to be longer than Shim Chon.

Seo: I’m going to die. Really! Give me the 3rd & 4th episode script.

Seo: What? I was dozing off without realizing. Firstly, the 3rd Episode extension, to take it over for the shoot. The 4th episode we will add more Cherry’s scene at the hospital, & Aden’s re-listen to the tape on the last “favour” (from Eun Young’s father) in the car & let them go & prepare for it

Seo is really tired

Ticket to the Moon. This is a scene where Aden meets Eun Sok to tell her about her younger sister. Eun Sok have no recollection of the existence of a sister. PD Song is assisting. PD Song is quite a character, able to mimic the dialogue right to the last work as he goes along the script. A bit of a drama Queen. He looks kind of comical than before.

PD Song: Action

Eun Sok: I was actually raised in an orphanage. But I don’t have a sister?

Aden: Are you sure?….You can’t be that you can’t remember?

Eun Sok: What?

Aden: Is it that you don’t wish to remember?

PD Song adliping the dialogue as it goes along

Eun Sok: I will say this again. I don’t have a sister. But if you say that I have a sister, then I will take it as having have one. However, as what you have just said, we have already been separated for 20 years, even if I’m not around, she will go living well. Shouldn’t that just fine, will do? Do we have a need to acknowledge each other?

PD Song: How can you read your lines like that? No emotions. Corked inside for 20 years of emotions are slowly seeping through & regaining the past memories & adding that your sister yearns to see you. Don’t you understand what I’m saying here?

Cherry: Yes. PD, do you understand it, yourself?

PD Song: Really gloomy. Now listen again

PD Song started his dramatic act again, but the crew is not too happy. Lighting PD & Cameraman crew wants to know when PD Song is going to have his own crew as not be them who substituting for him at ad-hoc. I suppose they never like how PD Song working attitude.

Post production. Lee is with the Audio sound Mixing Department where they are laying the sound tracks. This is called Track laying. It is usually to separate the tracks to 3 main component

1.Dialogue track. This is usually essential when you start dubbing a foreign language i.e Mandarin or Japanese on to the original ones. But the other track will not be effected by the dubbing

2. Music track. Popular marketing tools is to come out with extra income by promoting OST (Original Sound track).

3. Sound effects. Most of them are usually doctored in the studio to give it a richer feeling. But the atmospheric sound on the recording in location is important as filler, so as not to sound very dead. Library tracks tend to have a dead atmospheric sound to it. Some tracks can exceed more that 24 tracks, each is control individually depending on preference.

Lee is doing the music track. It is the scene where Aden listens to the tape; the music track was burying the dialogue from the tape, so Lee asked the track to reduce & raise the dialogue volume up & wanted catching tunes for the end credits. The Editor on hand is already knock off dozing from fatigue of many night of non sleep.

Jang Entertainment. Aden goes & consult advice from Jang over the script

Aden: This. Scene 23. This “Can’t be neglect”

In Korean “Neglect” & “Avoid” have the same sounding words.

Aden: Fire…avoid. What does this mean?

Jang: No. Use Hanja (Chinese characters) it is not “No” “Neglect” but it likes “Scuffles”

Aden: “Scuffles”, I understand.

Jang: How did you know that word?

The Japanese & Korean language based their language either in syllabus or alphabets. Because they have their origins derive from Chinese language. There will be a tendency to have some words that have the same sound but not the same meaning. This is eventually will take you, that you are required to refer back to Kanji for Japanese or Hanja for Korean to appreciate the deeper meaning. The Chinese do have their pinyin but eventually you need to understand through the thousand & thousand of Chinese characters as they are so thorough to having a character of each precise word, to enhance your vocabulary. Especially in poetry whether Korean or Japanese, you still have to write it in Chinese characters but not necessary read them in the Chinese language. This is the making of a language that existed for 5000 years. Even Hebrew & Latin is almost non existen.

Jang: 8am. Now the time is just right to get there. Let’s go.

Derma Clinic. Oh receiving treatment & resting

Just as I’m recalling now, it have been about 7 years ago. At that time I wasn’t discovered (aware of her presence), but in front of his office entrance, CEO Jin’s facial expression was very strange. No as I recall what CEO was wearing was a mourning suit.

Rewind to 7 years ago, Jang rushes to CEO Jin’s office. He goes to meet CEO Jin & “gang” off for the funeral

Jang: What has happened? What is going on? Soon Yun why did she die? Why sis she commit sucide? Did you say she was doing well? Said she wanted to open a florist shop? Didn’t you said she met someone she likes? Didn’t it is said compare to flowers she is prettier?

Kim: Now, we can’t asked anymore in the point there is no returning

Jang eventually overcome by emotion. CEO Jin just stood there remorse.

Seo: You are wrong. I don’t think anything funny about Cherry acting ability is better comparing to what I believe it to be. So that why I still see the importance of her, even if you are here stirring troubles with me. I still see the importance of Cherry. No matter whether Cherry is worth 300 million or 30, this is the matter for production. This doesn’t concern me. If you feel that it doesn’t do justice, then you withdraw your investment. I will stand affirm to my work. Even if Cherry or Oh Seung Ah, just as long as the acting abilities is not substantial, I will reduce the number of scenes. I can write her that she goes for further studies, by having her in a traffic accident, have her all bandaged up & lying in bed until the end.

Lee got the story on the whole incident

Lee: So does he really want to ban Cherry for doing?

Seo: That what he is saying. How can he ban the artiste? Tonight is already Episode 4? But definitely will boycott the shoot. This we have already experiences in not more that once or twice. Pass. Right. Why did you come?

Seo: I say what don’t you have a constant habit, just keep changing habits.
