LEE SEO JUN’S BEDROOM – MORNING
Lee Seo Jun looked at a sleeping Kim Geun Young whose face was turn towards him. He pushed her hair away from her face. He realized how he could have left this woman for a year and she could still be his. Lee Seo Jun realized that the heaven was kind to him. Kim Geun Young stirred next to him
LSJ : Good morning
KGY : Good morning
Kim Geun Young was a little embarrassed recalling the passion from last night. Lee Seo Jun could read her thoughts decided to change the topic.
LSJ : I like what you did to the house
KGY : You noticed. I thought I was very discrete about it
LSJ : It is all right. This house should have you in it. Just as you are in it now
KGY : You are laughing at me
LSJ : Come, let me make you breakfast this time and we should discuss our next plan
Lee Seo Jun left the room for Kim Geun Young to collect her modesty.
LEE SEO JUN’S KITCHEN – MORNING
Kim Geun Young came into the kitchen with the fresh aroma of coffee and freshly prepared bacon and eggs
LSJ : Let’s eat
Lee Seo Jun placed two plates down on the table and sat down. Kim Geun Young sat across him and took a sip of coffee and started to eat the breakfast
LSJ : What do you want to do today?
KGY : No, let me ask you first. Are you going to reopen Conan?
LSJ : Most likely. The African project only leaves for the book to be published and probably an appreciation ceremony at a later part. I should carry on and do the other work. I had received many calls while I was in Africa.
KGY : Really? Then Africa was a success.
LSJ : It is
KGY : That is great. You will be famous soon
LSJ : I already am. This will not add anymore to it. So what do you want to do today since you are on school assignment?
KGY : Let’s stay in and tell me about Africa
LSJ : That is plenty time for that. I want to know when I can meet your family
KGY : So soon?
LSJ : Last night was meant to be a commitment. It is not a casual impulse
KGY : I cannot bring you home today. I am suppose to be on a school assignment
LSJ : Ah yes, the school assignment
KGY : Let me talk to them and I will introduced you to the family next week
KIM GEUN YOUNG’S HOUSE – NIGHT
The family is settling down for dinner. Kim Geun Young was getting
nervous on how to break the news to the family on the subject of Lee
Seo Jun. Kim Geun Young’s grandmother just settled into her chair for
dinner and her mother was serving the food
KGY’s
Grandmother : I have heard that you are put in charge of the school’s photography club. How is it coming along? You can get Min Soo to go and teach the students one or two things about photography
KGY : Yes
KGY’s Father : How was the school assignment? Was it very tiring? Go and rest after dinner as you have to be up early tomorrow
KGY’s Mother : Yes, go and rest early. You look very tired when you came home.
Kim Geun Young’s mother then noticed that Kim Geun Young is no
longer wearing Lee Seo Jun’s ring on her finger. Kim Geun Young took
off the diamond ring off as it would be an inquisition if she wore the
ring with such a huge stone on it.
KGY’s Mother : Why are you not wearing the ring? Why have you both broken off? What happen? What man will ask a woman to wait him for one year?
KGY’s Father : Is that true? He had said something to you. Where is that rascal?
KGY : Yes, he had said something
KGY’s
Grandmother : What did he say? Why are you so unlucky in love?
KGY : He said he want to come over and meet the family next week
KMS : There I told you that the Teacher will propose
KGY’s Mother : Really, he wants to come. Oh dear, what shall
we do? We never had anybody famous in our house before
KGY’s Father : He will be just a house guest and should be treated as such. He is not some celebrity or famous singer. Did he return from Africa recently? When did he propose?
KGY’s Mother : What did he say?
KGY : He just says he wants to meet the family. You just get yourself prepared, that’s all
Kim Geun Young just ate her rice in silent why her parents and grandmother were discussing how to receive this important son in law to be
KIM GEUN YOUNG’S ROOM – NIGHT
Kim Geun Young replaced the diamond ring back to her finger and smiled at it. Her mobile phone rang and it was Lee Seo Jun
LSJ : Hello, have had dinner?
KGY : Yes, I have already told them
LSJ : What did they say?
KGY : They are anxiously waiting to meet you too. By the looks of things downstairs, they seemed to be welcoming the President to the house
LSJ : I do not want to trouble them. I just want the daughter of the house.
KGY : We will see. So it will Saturday dinner at my house at 7:30pm
LSJ : Yes, you will come over tomorrow and we make a list of things to bring over for the family. I am not very sure of the customs these days
KGY : Yes, we will do it on Saturday morning. I am going to rest now as I have an early start to school. What are your plans?
LSJ : I will reopen the studio and arrange the things in storage to be sent there. I will be busy the whole week I am afraid
KGY : All right, by the way Han Jae Min will be returning to Korea on Wednesday. We could meet up for dinner
LSJ : Jae Min? Why? Has he returned from China?
KGY : Yes, His grandfather has allowed him to return.
Kim Geun Young and Lee Seo Jun laughed as Han Jae Min’s grandfather sent him to be under the tutelage of his uncle in China. Obviously by the sound of Kim Geun Young’s remark, he must have completed his term of sentence
AT A RESTAURANT – NIGHT
Han Jae Min, Kim Geun Young and Lee Seo Jun was in the middle of their main course and Lee Seo Jun shared some of his stories with them
HJM : Wow! I must go to Africa some time
LSJ : You were in China for a year. You must have taken some good pictures.
HJM : Don’ talk about China. I just finished my confined sentence
Kim Geun Young and Lee Seo Jun laughed. Han Jae Min saw how happy Kim Geun Young was as he saw the two of them holding hands above the table. Han Jae Min saw the size of the stone sitting on the new ring on Kim Geun Young’s finger
HJM : Is the date set?
Both Lee Seo Jun and Kim Geun Young was surprised at Han Jae Min’s question. Han Jae Min made a gesture towards the ring. Kim Geun Young became shy and moved her hand away.
LSJ : I am meeting her family this Saturday and we will discuss it then. I never had a chance to meet them
HJM : You will like them. Just be careful of your new father in law. He is very strict in his requirements of a son- in-law. He will like him as you fit his ideals better than I did
Han Jae Min recalled the time he has shared with Kim Geun Young’s family. Lee Seo Jun could still see Han Jae Min’s affection for Kim Geun Young still lingers. Kim Geun Young decided to change the subject.
KGY : Seo Jun, he is going to reopen the studio again so do you want a job?
LSJ : I just got back but the news has traveled fast so most likely I will start the projects very soon. What are your plans?
HJM : My agreement with grandfather is to do the China exile and it will allow me to do what I want. So I will need a job
LSJ : Then consider yourself hired. You can start on Monday
OUTSIDE THE RESTAURANT - NIGHT
All three of them waited outside while the car jockey went to get Lee Seo Jun’s car. When the car arrived, Lee Seo Jun volunteered to take Han Jae Min home but Han Jae Min declined.
HJM : I just got back. Let me just walk the street of Seoul
Lee Seo Jun opened the car door for Kim Geun Young to get in and walked over to the driver side. Kim Geun Young wind down the window
KGY : Jae Min, welcome back
HJM : Good night
Han Jae Min waved as the car drove off. He is glad that he managed to secure his future with photography with grandfather’s blessing.
KIM GEUN YOUNG’S HOUSE – NIGHT
Kim Geun Young’s mother was busy the whole day preparing the food for dinner. Kim Min Soo came home and saw his mother still in the kitchen.
KMS : How long has she been in there? She was there when I left this morning and now she is still there. Tonight must be a great dinner. Noona, thank you. So what time is Teacher coming?
KGY : Around 7:30pm
KMS : That should be about now
The door bell rang and there was a scream from the kitchen. Kim Geun Young’s father went into the kitchen and checked what the commotion was about. Kim Geun Young went out to open the door for Lee Seo Jun.
KGY’s Mother : He is here. He can’t be. I am not ready
KGY’s Father : It is all right, dear. The food is almost ready. It just needed to put on the table
Kim Geun Young’s grandmother came into the kitchen in a Korean hanbok. She waved for her daughter to leave the kitchen
KGY’s
Grandmother : I finished the things here. You go and get changed
KGY’s
Mother : Thank you, Mother
Kim Geun Young’s mother saw Kim Min Soo sitting on the sofa
KGY’s
Mother : Min Soo, wear something better. He is after all was your Teacher
Kim Min Soo was surprised at the big fuss and went up to change his clothes as instructed. Lee Seo Jun walked in as Kim Geun Young’s mother re-entered the room, already changed to greet the guest. Lee Seo Jun was carrying the gifts for the family which both He and Kim Geun Young picked earlier. Lee Seo Jun brought two bottles of South African wine from his trip, ginseng and bird nest hamper. Kim Geun Young said that will certainly impress them.
KGY : Seo Jun, this is my mother, my grandmother and father.
LSJ : I am Lee Seo Jun, how do you do? Mrs. Kim, something small for the family
Lee Seo Jun passed the gifts to Kim Geun Young’s mother who was gapping at Lee Seo Jun and did not response. Kim Geun Young looked at her mother’s expression called her mother to come out of her daze
KGY : Mother, take the gifts
KGY’s Mother : Yes, thank you. There is no need to trouble with gifts. Please take a seat.
Kim Geun Young’s mother placed the gifts onto the table and sat down. Kim Geun Young’s grandmother and father were also seated.
KGY : Seo Jun, my grandmother
Kim Geun Young nudged at Lee Seo Jun to signal him to pay his respect to her grandmother. Lee Seo Jun took the hint and genuflects in front of Kim Geun Young’s grandmother. When he got up, he saw the Kim Geun Young looked very pleased at his manners.
LSJ : Grandmother, how do you do? I am Lee Seo Jun
KGY’s
Grandmother : Yes, please take a seat
Lee Seo Jun smiled and Kim Geun Young showed him to take a seat at the sofa. When he came down, there was a load of gifts lining the table full. Lee Seo Jun was sitting down at the sofa. The elders were inspecting Lee Seo Jun like a prized horse.
KMS : How do you do, Teacher?
LSJ : Ah, Min Soo, how have you been? Have you graduated?
KMS : Yes, I am working at Pisces Studio
LSJ : I know the Director there. A good man
KGY’s Mother : Mr. Lee, I hope you don’t mind a simple home cooking. It isn’t all that much
KGY’s Father : Yes, it took my wife the whole day to come up with dinner tonight so you better eat up. You looked kind of thin. I sure there isn’t much opportunity to Korean food in Africa
Kim Geun Young gave a punch onto her husband’s arm. Kim Min Soo
sat next to his sister
LSJ : Please call me Seo Jun. I am sorry to have trouble with you tonight
KGY’s
Grandmother : Mr. Lee, no Seo Jun. Why did you left our Geun Young and just went off to Africa for a year?
KGY : Grandmother!
LSJ : Grandmother, to photograph Africa was a dream of mine and although at that time we had just confirmed our relationship, Geun Young told me that I should go and fulfill my dream. It was not a bad decision. I have done it and I am back now. I am sorry for the worry. Now that I have returned, I would like to your kind permission to allow us to marry. We have waited long enough, over a year
KMS : Don’t worry, Teacher. There should be no problem
Kim Geun Young’s grandmother glared at Kim Min Soo. Kim Geun
Young’s parents were pleased to hear his request.
KGY’s Father : When to you want the wedding to take place?
LSJ : I haven’t really discussed with Geun Young but
I have thought that next year spring after the Lunar New Year will be ideal. Geun Young will be off school at that time
KGY’s Mother : A spring wedding will be indeed beautiful. Let’s have dinner and we can discussed it further
DINNER TABLE – NIGHT
Kim Geun Young’s mother was over filling Lee Seo Jun’s plate with food. Her husband nudged his wife to stop.
KGY’s Mother : Seo Jun, please help yourself
KGY : Yes, please eat
LSJ : Thank you. In fact I have eaten from the lunch boxes you have packed when Min Soo was at the studio. The food was delicious then. It is more so today
Kim Geun Young’s mother blushed at Lee Seo Jun’s compliment. The dinner went without a hitch and after dinner Lee Seo Jun instructed Kim Geun Young’s family on the art of drinking red wine and they were so thrilled that Lee Seo Jun is so cultured and learned.
OUTSIDE THE HOUSE – NIGHT
KGY’s Father : Seo Jun, please drive safely. Geun Young, see him out for us. Seo Jun, we are happy to meet you at last
Kim Geun Young saw her father started to tear in the eyes and escorted Lee Seo Jun to the gate.
LSJ : Has the park changed much?
KGY : Not really. Do you want to sit there for a while?
LSJ : Yes, let’s go
IN THE PARK – NIGHT
Lee Seo Jun held Kim Geun Young hand as they sat at the familiar park bench.
LSJ : It feels like exactly the same before I left that day. It as if I never left. Africa is just a memory and now is the real beginning of our lives
KGY : The family likes you.
LSJ : What is there not to like?
Kim Geun Young laughed at Lee Seo Jun’s arrogant statement.
LSJ : I am sorry I did not discuss the date of the wedding with you. It was something I was thinking about on the way here
KGY : I thought the spring wedding will be fine
What do you like to do tomorrow? Let’s watch a movie?
LSJ : I have got an interview tomorrow at the studio. It was arranged by the company on the African project. You can come around later and we can go from there
KGY : An interview, you have not done one of those.
LSJ : There will be a lot more once the book is out. Please make yourself available on the November 18. That is the Appreciation Night for the African project
KGY : Oh dear, is it a formal thing. I got nothing appropriate to wear.
LSJ : It is all right. We will get something when the time is nearer. You know I got excellent taste
Suddenly Lee Seo Jun stood up much to Kim Geun Young’s surprise.
She turned around and saw that her father.
KGY : Father! Why are you here?
KGY’s Father : Oh, I saw that Seo Jun’s car was still here. I wonder if I can have a word or two with him. Geun Young, you carry on home first. Seo Jun, will you join me for a bottle of soju. Don’t worry, it is just a small chat.
LSJ : Geun Young, you go home first
ROAD SIDE STALL – NIGHT
Lee Seo Jun and Kim Geun Young’s father called for some side dishes
and two bottle of soju. Lee Seo Jun poured a glass of soju for his
future father-in-law and then for himself.
KGY’s Father : How old are you now? You did not mention your side of the family all this time
LSJ : I turned 35 last month. My parents have both passed on. I have got a brother in the States and a sister here
KGY’s Father : I am sorry to hear that. Don’t worry. We are your family now. I like your sense of maturity and realize that we men need to have our own dreams before settling down. I am glad that Geun Young asked you to go to Africa. My daughter always has other people interests before her own and I hope that you should know what to do to repay her kindness. I believe you were with her when she was with Han Jae Min?
LSJ : Yes, Han Jae Min was working at my studio.
KGY’s Father : Geun young mentioned that she was thankful that you were at her side during that difficult time
LSJ : I am thankful that she gave me an opportunity to stand next to her
KGY’s Father : You do not have to worry about us as the women at home think the world of you but do not ever disappoint Geun Young if you know what is good for you
LSJ : Yes, I will remember the advice.
KGY’s Father : You better do. Drink up!
Lee Seo Jun drank his glass of soju and Kim Geun Young share some
stories of Kim Geun Young growing up. Lee Seo Jun thought that his
father-in-law is fiercely protective of Kim Geun Young and smiled at
Kim Geun Young’s father carrying on with his stories. He liked the idea
of being in a family again
CONAN STUDIO – DAY
Lee Seo Jun was finishing some work at the studio when the
interviewer for the magazine arrived. She was no other that Seo Hee
Won. Lee Seo Jun was surprised to see her
SHW : Director, how do you do?
LSJ : Hee Won, I did not think it will be you
SHW : We are in the same publishing company and my boss assigned to this because we had worked together before
LEE SEO JUN’S OFFICE – DAY
Seo Hee Won did the interview and they relaxed over coffee after that.
SHW : It must have been a difficult one year
LSJ : It would have but there was plenty of work to keep the mind off
SHW : I heard that there are very beautiful pictures. Some would say it was one of your best works.
LSJ : It was always been a dream of mine to do Africa
SHW : Are you still seeing Miss Kim Geun Young? How is she?
LSJ : She is fine. She is a teacher now and strange it must been, she is the teacher in charge of the photography club
Lee Seo Jun laughed at the thought but stopped himself when Seo Hee
Won did not joined him
LSJ : How have you been? Are you all right?
SHW : I am fine. Mostly, busy with work
LSJ : Do you know that Han Jae Min is back? I have asked him to return to work here
SHW : Really, that is wonderful. Are you going to accept our contract again?
LSJ : Why ever not? We worked well together before
SHW : Yes
Suddenly there was a voice from the outside and it was Kim Geun
Young calling for Lee Seo Jun. Lee Seo Jun got off his chair and walked
out of the office.
LSJ : That must be Geun Young. We have agreed to meet here. Come, you have not seen each other for over a year
Seo Hee Won gave a forced smile as she is not too happy to meet Kim
Geun Young. It is obvious from Lee Seo Jun’s tone of excitement that
his feelings for Kim Geun Young are still very strong. Lee Seo Jun
came out of the office and saw Kim Geun Young looking around.
LSJ : Geun Young, over here. Guess who came to do the interview?
Kim Geun Young walked into the office and was surprised to see Seo
Hee Won. Han Jae Min had explained to her about Seo Hee Won’s
hidden feelings for Lee Seo Jun when she previously discussed with
Han Jae Min that she did not understand Seo Hee Won’s animosity
towards her. Kim Geun Young felt the same awkwardness she felt
every time they met.
KGY : How do you do? It has been a long time
SHW : Yes, how do you do? I better be going as you two obviously have plans. Sit Cham Nim, I will send the script to you for editing before I send it out. Goodbye
Seo Hee Won left the office brushing pass Kim Geun Young. Kim Geun
Young wondered that some people are not meant to be friends. Lee
Seo Jun read Kim Geun Young’s thoughts.
LSJ : Give her some time.
KGY : What? Oh, yes. Of course.
LSJ : So what movie shall we watch tonight? Maybe we can go and do a little shopping before that.
KGY : Oh, you want to get something.
LSJ : No, just casually look around to see if there is anything we like to get for the house. It has been a bachelor pad for so long so it may not be appropriate to have a lady in the house
KGY : Oh that! I have done some over the past year and I don’t seen anything to increased
LSJ : Just go and accommodate me instead
KGY : Yes
FURNITURE SHOP – NIGHT
Kim Geun Young and Lee Seo Jun started to look for items towards
their life together. Lee Seo Jun looked into a furniture shop for a new
bed. Kim Geun Young was bouncing on and off the beds on display.
KGY : I like this one, Seo Jun. What do you think?
Lee Seo Jun walked over to the bed that Kim Geun Young has her eyes
on. Lee Seo Jun had a sit on it for comfort and found that he like it
too. He signals to the sales lady to make the purchase
KGY : Aren’t you going to think about it first?
LSJ : What is there to think about? It is a joint decision
Lee Seo Jun passed his credit card to the sales lady and she went
away to make the bill. Lee Seo Jun bounced onto the bed again for a
final confirmation. At this moment, the pretty Park Mi Rae was also in
the store to settle the details for her Chairman’s dinning table. When
she turned around she was surprised to see Lee Seo Jun but frowned
when she realized that a woman was next to him. Park Mi Rae could
not help herself but and walk over as Lee Seo Jun passed his card to
the sales lady
PMR : Mr. Lee, how do you do? This is must be fate
Kim Geun Young was surprised to see a petite and elegant Park Mi Rae
and wondered who she was. Park Mi Rae saw the familiar ring on Kim
Geun Young’s finger. Park Mi Rae realized that she was Kim Geun
Young and she was so disappointed that Lee Seo Jun’s fiancée is so
plain-looking. Lee Seo Jun got up from the bed to make the
introduction
LSJ : How do you do, Miss Park? Geun Young, this is
Miss Park Mi Rae and she was with us during
the final leg of the Africa project. Miss Park is the secretary to the Chairman Han
PMR : Why so formal? We were colleagues, weren’t we? Miss Kim, how do you do?
KGY : How do you do? Shopping?
PMR : Yes, just settled something for my Chairman. What are you two doing here?
LSJ : We just bought a bed for my house.
PMR : So soon. When is the wedding?
LSJ : We have planned it for just after the New Year
Kim Geun Young wondered why Lee Seo Jun was so irritated with the
beautiful Park Mi Rae. The sales lady came over and invited Lee Seo
Jun to sign the receipt and record his house address for delivery. Park
Mi Rae waited for Lee Seo Jun to leave
PMR : Congratulations, you must be very lucky to still hold such a catch. Better hang on him tight
KGY : What? Excuse me?
Kim Geun Young wanted to rebuke Park Mi Rae further but Lee Seo
Jun returned after settling the bill. Lee Seo Jun placed his arm around
Kim Geun Young and excused themselves from Park Mi Rae
LSJ : It was nice to see you, Miss Park but we have
a movie to catch. We will chat at another time,
perhaps?
Lee Seo Jun did not hear Park Mi Rae’s reply and lead Kim Geun Young
out of the store
OUTSIDE THE STORE – NIGHT
Kim Geun Young looked at Lee Seo Jun carefully and questioned him
about Park Mi Rae
KGY : What is it about Miss Park that you don’t like her?
LSJ : What? Nothing, it just she is a little irritating
KGY : I agree and wish we will not bump into her often but still I think that you must have left a very good impression of yourself on her
LSJ : What?
KGY : Nothing, let’s go
Kim Geun Young hooked her arm around Lee Seo Jun as they made
their way to the cinema.
The next few months sees both Kim Geun Young and Lee Seo Jun
busy in school and Conan Studio respectively. Han Jae Min’s reputation
as a photographer enjoyed an increased in demand.
CONAN STUDIO – DAY
Lee Seo Jun and Han Jae Min was working on a Sunday in the studio
finishing an urgent shoot. Kim Geun Young stayed around to assist
their two men. As they were busy, she read on her schoolwork.
Suddenly the studio door opened and it was Park Mi Rae waltzing into
the studio. The two men were surprised to see Park Mi Rae. Kim Geun
Young was reading inside did not see Park Mi Rae coming in.
PMR : How do you do? I knew you will be here.
This is the first time Han Jae Min has meet Park Mi Rae so he was
surprised at Park Mi Rae’s obvious familiarity with Lee Seo Jun
HJM : How do you do? I am Han Jae Min
Park Mi Rae just ignored Han Jae Min. She walked over to Lee Seo Jun
and gave him a white envelope
PMR : This is the invitation to the Appreciation Night and you are one of the guests of honour so don’t be late. You must bring your pretty fiancée but it is a formal dinner so you will need to get her a gown
Kim Geun Young heard the voices and step out just in time to catch
Park Mi Rae’s mention about a gown and how much spite there was in
her voice.
KGY : Miss Park, don’t worry. I am sure I will look my best on that night as I will be standing beside Seo Jun. It is Seo Jun big night as well. Miss Park, I am sure will be busy to be entertaining your bosses to really bother about us.
Lee Seo Jun, Han Jae Min and Park Mi Rae was surprised to heard such
retaliation from Kim Geun Young. She walked over to Miss Park and
took the white envelope.
KGY : We will see you there.
Park Mi Rae recovered herself and not to loose the fight, looked at Han
Jae Min and smiled
PMR : You may come as well. The invitation is made out to everyone in Conan Studio. Lee Sit Cham Nim, he must come as well?
LSJ : Han Jae Min, please come along
HJM : Thank you, Teacher.
Park Mi Rae waltzes out as she had waltzes in. The two men just
looked at her go. They were staring at the door until Kim Geun Young
woke them up from the daze
KGY : There is no need to look. The wind has just past through. The woman has got some nerve. Seo Jun, look what kind of pest you brought back for Africa
Han Jae Min and Lee Seo Jun smiled at each other at Kim Geun
Young’s obvious jealousy of Park Mi Rae and refused to succumb to
Park Mi Rae’s challenge that she does not know how to look
presentable in major function
LSJ : Geun Young, she is originally a pest from Korea
KGY : When is the party? We will go and look for that gown of mine next week. Han Jae Min, you should come too, she seems to fancy you as well.
Kim Geun Young went into the office in a huff and the two men waited for her to go in before bursting into laughter. They continued in their work
HJM : Teacher, you are lucky. Geun Young never showed me any of that when we were together
LSJ : Han Jae Min, you will get your turn. Let’s finished the work
KIM GEUN YOUNG’S HOUSE – NIGHT
Kim Geun Young showed her family the invitation card to the
Appreciation Night. Her family was impressed with the event.
KGY’s Mother : Geun Young, you haven’t got anything nice to wear for an occasion like that
KGY’s
Grandmother : She can wear the hanbok
KGY’s Mother : They do not wear hanbok for that kind of a party. It is like the Blue Dragon Award or something like that. All the female celebrities are in Western gowns
KGY : It is just Appreciation Night for the African project. There is no awards given, just a speech of thanks for those involved
KGY’s Father : Seo Jun must be a guest of honour. You are sitting next to him?
KGY : Yes, on the main table.
KGY’s Mother : What should we do about the dress?

Kim Geun Young was running breathless toward Han Jae Min who was
waiting for her.
KGY : I am sorry. The student held me up for a while. Is he waiting long for me? Thank you so much for the favour
HJM : Just catch your breath and we will go and see. Teacher said he cannot make it as he is busy so I got some help
KGY : Yes, I know. He called me on my way here. Who did you asked to help?
HJM : Hee Won
Han Jae Min did not allowed Kim Geun Young to reply and pushed her
into the boutique. Seo Hee Won was already there making a selection
for Kim Geun Young to try
HJM : Hee Won, Geun Young is here. Can we start now?
Seo Hee Won picked two or three dresses and passed it to Kim Geun
Young.
SHW : Try them on. I hope you like my selection. This private function is just about dressing elegantly, nothing too fancy
Kim Geun Young tried the dresses and decided on a white chiffon gown
in a Georgian style with a single black sash. The dress reminded her of
much like the dress Lee Seo Jun gave her before.
KGY : I like this one. Jae Min, what do you think?
HJM : It is very pretty.
SHW : Wearing white will make you a little more outstanding in the party so you will have to match the accessories and I will suggest you put this little tiara on

Han Jae Min let the sentence trailed off bearing in mind of Seo Hee
Won’s feelings.
SHW : It’s only a matter of time. I already accepted that a year ago. I am just a good student wishing her teacher well

Han Jae Min stopped when Lee Seo Jun rushed into the boutique in a
black tuxedo. Seo Hee Won have not seen Lee Seo Jun in formal wear
before nor remembered him to be so handsome

HJM : Don’t worry, the dress is selected and she is doing her hair and make up. She will be very beautiful
Kim Geun Young walked into the room at this time. Her hair was done
in an elegant coiffure with a pair of long dangling diamante earrings
leaving her neck bare of any accessories. Han Jae Min and Seo Hee
Won both stood up at the vision Kim Geun Young made. Seo Hee Won

speechless looking at Kim Geun Young. He turned to Seo Hee Won

KGY : Thank you. You looked very handsome as well.

Han Jae Min smiled at the two lovebirds complimenting each other and
he turned to Seo Hee Won
HJM : I will be going to the Appreciation Night and I
don’t have a partner. Do you want to come? You would want to see the Teacher’s achievement
SHW : Yes, I would
HJM : Teacher, I have asked Hee Won to be my partner tonight.
LSJ : Yes, Hee Won, do come
SHW : All right

Lee Seo Jun took Kim Geun Young’s hand and winds it around his arm
and escorted Kim Geun Young out of the boutique. Kim Geun Young
suddenly stopped at her tracks
KGY : Wait! I forgot about the purse.
Seo Hee Won walked to her with it and passed it to her. Kim Geun
Young smiled gratefully at her

Kim Geun Young took a deep breath and walked out elegantly with Lee
Seo Jun out of the boutique doors.
GRAND HYATT SEOUL HOTEL – NIGHT
Lee Seo Jun’s arrived at the hotel’s grand entrance and got off and
passed the car to the awaiting car jockey. He walked over to Kim Geun
Young’s side of the car and waved the jockey who held the door
LSJ : It is all right. I will take it from here
Lee Seo Jun held his hand out and Kim Geun Young placed her hand
into it and slide off the car
KGY : I feel like Cinderella arriving at the ball
LSJ : But you arrived at the ball together with the ‘Prince’
KGY : Really, it’s not the time to laugh at me. I am so nervous that I can hardly breathe now.
LSJ : Relax. Just think that they are just like you and me.
Kim Geun Young took couple of deep breaths and signaled to Lee Seo
Jun that she is ready
KGY : Let’s go. I am ready

Kim Geun Young and Lee Seo Jun walked onto the line of red carpet
that leads them to the hotel’s grand ballroom when the function was
held. They walked to the reception table, handed in their invitations.
A pretty receptionist took their cards
Receptionist : Mr. Lee, you will be on the main table. Please help yourself to some refreshments first and someone will lead you in when the time comes. Your wife looks very beautiful tonight
KGY : Thank you
Lee Seo Jun leads Kim Geun Young to the bar and took two glasses of
red wine and passed one glass to Kim Geun Young. Lee Seo Jun saw
the Chairman Han was there talking to the media.
LSJ : That’s the Chairman Han. Let me go over to say hello and introduce you to him
KGY : Just a minute
Kim Geun Young took a big sip of red wine and Lee Seo Jun smiled at
her nervousness

The cameramen snapped their photographs away. One of the reporters
remain behind while the rest left to interview the other guests
Reporter : Mr. Lee Seo Jun, congratulations on your upcoming nuptials. Do let us know when and we will cover the story
LSJ : Thank you but it is a private affair. It is not necessary
Reporter : We will see when the time comes. You are a very interesting subject with some connections. Congratulations, Miss Kim. You look lovely tonight, definitely one of the best dressed woman here. Mind if we take some more pictures of you
Kim Geun Young looked at Lee Seo Jun and he gave a nod to indicate
it will be fine. Kim Geun Young stepped away from Lee Seo Jun and
allowed the reporter to take some pictures of her. The flashes stopped
to indicate that the photograph session was over.

Reporter : Thank you, Miss Kim and look forward to see yourself in the daily tomorrow
The reporter left them. Chairman Han returned to their side and took
Kim Geun Young’s hand into his. Kim Geun Young was very surprised
at his action

Lee Seo Jun and Kim Geun Young tried to recover themselves from the
fact that Park Mi Rae was the Chairman’s daughter as well as his

surprised to see that Kim Geun Young was dressed most appropriately
for the occasion but feigned a half hearted compliment

LSJ : Really, I do not remember being so obnoxious.
KGY : To think about it, your family must have pretty well to do for you to go to New York for all those years
LSJ : I suppose so
KGY : You mean they were rich.
LSJ : My father headed a company but as I had no interest in the business, he allowed me to pursue what I wanted and sold his shares to my uncle and I got the money to go to New York to further my studies and set up Conan Studio. It is wasn’t too long that I was basically self sufficient on my own
KGY : What company was it?
LSJ : Dae Shang Corporation
KGY : What?
Dae Shang Corporation is one of Korean top 50 companies. Kim Geun
Young couldn’t reply to that because Park Mi Rae rejoined them. She
brought two glasses of wine with her. She passed it on to Lee Seo Jun
and accidentally tipped the glass. Kim Geun Young managed to sway
away and the wine drops fell onto Park Mi Rae’s lovely purple gown.
PMR : Oh bother! Look at my lovely gown
LSJ : Just get some soda water and it will come out. The damage is not too bad, just at the hem of the dress. Let me get that soda for you
PMR : Why, Seo Jun ssi? Thank you
Lee Seo Jun went to get an attention of a waiter and Kim Geun Young
took out some tissue to help with Park Mi Rae’s dress. Park Mi Rae
grabbed the tissue away from Kim Geun Young
PMR : I do not need your help. You moved pretty fast
for someone your size
KGY : You are pretty childish for someone your age
Park Mi Rae wanted to rebuke back but Lee Seo Jun came back with a
glass of soda
LSJ : Here is the soda. Just damp it in and it will not leave a stain. It is a good thing the stain is similar to the colour of the dress, it will not too obvious.
KGY : You should hurry and get to the ladies to do it before it really stays on.
Park Mi Rae took the glass of soda and huffed off to the ladies toilet.
Lee Seo Jun was a little surprised at Park Mi Rae’s behavior
LSJ : What was that about? Was everything all right?
KGY : Oh, just an elder advising her junior. That’s all.
I think it is time we should go into the ballroom
Kim Geun Young just finished her sentence when an usher approaches
them to inform then that it is time to enter the ballroom. Lee Seo Jun
and Kim Geun Young placed down their glasses onto the nearest
cocktail table and followed the usher

INSIDE THE BALLROOM – NIGHT
Lee Seo Jun and Kim Geun Young walked into a African themed
ballroom filled with many light boxes of Lee Seo Jun’s photographs.
Kim Geun Young was at awe at the pictures. As there passed a table,
Kim Geun Young felt a tap and it was Han Jae Min sitting next with Seo
Hee Won. Kim Geun Young smiled at them. The usher showed them to
their seats at the main table and the Chairman Han was already
seated talking to a guest. Once he saw Lee Seo Jun, Chairman Han
and his guest stood up. Chairman Han carried on to make the
introductions in English
Chairman Han : Seo Jun ssi, this is Mr. Hans Keller. Hans, our celebrity photographer Lee Seo Jun and his fiancée, Miss Kim Geun Young
Lee Seo Jun extend his hand and shook Hans Keller’s hand. Hans
Keller was an indeed a good looking German in his late 30’s. Lee Seo
Jun thought that he looks like the statues he had seen during his
travels in Europe. Lee Seo Jun also replied back in English and formally
introduced Kim Geun Young
LSJ : How do you do? My fiancée, Miss Kim Geun Young
Kim Geun Young held her hand out for a hand shake but Hans Keller took and kissed the top of her hand. Kim Geun Young was a little shocked in two matters, one was that Hans Keller kissed her hand and two was Hans Keller spoke to her in Korean
Hans Keller : How do you do? Miss Kim, might I compliment that you look very beautiful tonight?
KGY : Thank you, might I say that you speak Korean well. I teach the Korean language in school
Hans Keller : Really, a teacher. You must correct me if I get it wrong
Chairman Han : Don’t joke, Hans. His mother is Korean
LSJ : Then you should be familiar with Korean custom about close proximity with the women
Chairman Han : Hans, you got a jealous fiancé now

Hans Keller bowed low and Lee Seo Jun pulled a chair out for Kim Geun Young. Once she was seated, Lee Seo Jun took his seat beside her and glared at Hans Keller. Hans Keller just smiled back and raised his wine glass for another apology. The waitress brought two fresh glasses of wine for Lee Seo Jun and Kim Geun Young. Chairman Han called on a toast once their wine was at hand
Chairman Han : To a successful African project and your upcoming nuptials
Hans Keller : Really, then my congratulations
Park Mi Rae approaches them and wondered why is happening at the raised glasses of the four of them in the table
PMR : What is the occasion?
Hans Keller : Oh, Mi Rae, we are congratulating Mr. Lee and his fiancée for their upcoming nuptials
PMR : Really, it is still so far away.
Hans Keller : So when is the wedding?
LSJ : March the 18

As they sat down and Park Mi Rae sat in between her father and Mr. Hans, the master of ceremony got up the stage to announce the night’s events.
MC : Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for your
attendance tonight
The master of ceremony explained the length of the project and tonight events, proceeds are going to the World Wildlife Fund. They proceed to show a short clip from a selection of Lee Seo Jun’s photographs and got a audience warm applause.
MC : Thank you, Ladies and Gentlemen. We will now like to call onto the stage Chairman of Vision Publishing, Mr. Han Song Bok to present a token of appreciation to the man whose work we see tonight, Mr. Lee Seo Jun
The audience clapped and a spot light shined on to the main table. Chairman Han walked up onto the stage followed by Lee Seo Jun. The master of ceremony passed a crystal statue of a camera to Chairman Han. Chairman Han shook his hand with Lee Seo Jun and they held in a handshake for the cameramen to take their photographs.
MC : Thank you, Chairman Han and Mr. Lee Seo Jun. We will resume with dinner now Chairman Han and Lee Seo Jun sat down and the waiter started to serve a western dinner in line with the African theme. Kim Geun Young looked at the commemorative gift.
KGY : It looks very heavy
PMR : It was carved from a single block of crystal from South Africa
KGY : Really?
LSJ : Thank you, it will be well worth a lot of sentimental value
Chairman Han : Yes! Yes! Come let’s eat. Kim Geun Young ssi, we have let Africa taken Seo Jun ssi for a year. You should have the chance to see that country for yourself
KGY : Yes, I should
Dinner carried out in silence at the main table and the Africa themed
show was on with live African dances and Kim Geun Young enjoyed
herself immensely. At the end of show, the night wind down to a
slower pace and a live band introduced some dance music for the
guest to dance to. As the formal part of the event is over, the guests
relax themselves by starting to go onto the dance floor and enjoyed
themselves for the night. After much encouragement from Lee Seo
Jun, Kim Geun Young agreed to go down to the dance floor. Lee Seo
Jun whirled Kim Geun Young as the band was playing a jazzy number.
Park Mi Rae dragged Hans Keller along and danced with him
LSJ : This is fun, isn’t it?
KGY : So this is what people do in parties like this
LSJ : Not bad, isn’t it and how can Cinderella not dance before going home
KGY : Isn’t the ‘Prince’ going home as well?
LSJ : Of course. He got to drive the ‘carriage’ back
to her house. By the way, you danced pretty well
KGY : Social dance is now a school curriculum now
LSJ : Really, you are not a dance teacher as well
KGY : No, just took advantage of free lessons
Kim Geun Young’s laugher rippled onto the dance floor as they enjoyed
themselves. Park Mi Rae lead Hans Keller closed to Lee Seo Jun and
Kim Geun Young and started to dance. Hans Keller saw through Park
Mi Rae’s intention
Hans Keller : I do not like to be used by a woman as a second fiddle even though you are the daughter of a dear friend. I will let it pass this once. Frankly, my dear, he is rather off limit to you.
PMR : You really think they are suited?
Hans Keller : They are already engaged with a fixed marriage date. It cannot be more final than that. Furthermore, Lee Seo Jun has not taken an interest in you all evening, should speak of the fact the importance of Kim Geun Young is to him. Mi Rae, just grow up. You cannot have everything, my dear.

Park Mi Rea had no choice but to follow as she will look ridiculous standing on her own on the dance floor. At another table Han Jae Min and Seo Hee Won were looking at the dance floor and watching Lee Seo Jun and Kim Geun Young dancing away.
SHW : Their love really had withstand the time.
HJM : Yes, even though it started not too long and Teacher had to go to Africa, the love was deep enough to hold
SHW : I guess I understand that loving a person does not mean for him to be physically next to you. Kim Geun Young ssi is very brave in that aspect and deserving of that love. You were a real fool to have lost that.
HJM : Blame it on immaturity. I am glad everything worked out for Geun Young and Teacher. He carried out his dream and returned to the love that allowed him to go. Do you want to dance?
SHW : No, let just sit here and watch.
Kim Geun Young signaled to Lee Seo Jun at the end of the dance
number that she had enough and they returned to the table.
Chairman Han : You two looked wonderful together. Seo Jun ssi, Hans and I are going for a cognac and a cigar. Would you like to join us?
LSJ : No, please carry on as we think we should make a move now as it is very late. I have to do some work at the studio tomorrow
Chairman Han : Ah yes, Kim Geun Young ssi looked a little tired. Yes, take your leave now and we will see you doing the book launch. You will bring Kim Geun Young ssi along for it. Mi Rae, do you want to join us?
PMR : Yes, Chairman
Hans Keller : Good night, Kim Geun Young ssi and lovely dreams

Lee Seo Jun and Kim Geun Young waited for them to leave the
ballroom and walked over to join Han Jae Min and Seo Hee Won.
KGY : Finally, I can be myself again. Let’s go home
Lee Seo Jun and Han Jae Min had a laugh.
LSJ : We will be leaving now, do you need a lift?
HJM : No, I brought a car tonight but let’s all leave together.
SHW : Yes, we can go now
HOTEL LOBBY - NIGHT
HJM : Do you want me to come by the studio later?
LSJ : Yes, but make it later part of the evening
As they just had confirmed the time, the car jockey brought Lee Seo
Jun’s car. Lee Seo Jun saw to Kim Geun Young into the car before
taking over the wheel. They gave a wave to Han Jae Min and Seo Hee
Won and headed off home.
LEE SEO JUN’S HOUSE – NIGHT
Lee Seo Jun switched on the house lights and Kim Geun Young was on
her mobile with her father.
KGY : Yes, I will be home for breakfast. I will let him know him about it. Good night.
LSJ : Your father? What did he say?
KGY : You have to stay and eat breakfast at the house when you send me home later
LSJ : Really? That all
KGY : What were you expecting he will say? My father trusts me
LSJ : You like a coffee now or you want to take a shower first?
KGY : You make the coffee and I take a shower. I want to wash all this off. Looking beautiful has too many layers to peel off. Promise me, there isn’t one for a long time.
Kim Geun Young kicked off her heels and waltz into the bedroom to
grab that shower. Lee Seo Jun took off his jacket, removed the bowtie
and unfasten the button of his shirt to make himself comfortable. He
walked into the kitchen to make a pot of coffee. Lee Seo Jun was
watching the news on television when Kim Geun Young came out
towel drying out her hair. Lee Seo Jun got up and went into the
kitchen and poured her a cup of coffee. Kim Geun Young was sitting on
the sofa watching the news when Lee Seo Jun passed her the coffee.
KGY : Thank you. You should go and take a shower now
LSJ : All right. I will do that
When Lee Seo Jun came out of the bedroom after his shower, he saw
that Kim Geun Young was already fast asleep on the sofa. He smiled at
her and carried her up and took her into the bedroom.
LEE SEO JUN’S BEDROOM – NIGHT
Lee Seo Jun placed Kim Geun Young on the bed and switch off the
bedside lamp. He quietly took out his laptop from the room to finish
some work in the living room.
LEE SEO JUN’S BEDROOM – MORNING
Kim Geun Young woke up and did not see Lee Seo Jun in the room.
She got up from the bed and headed for the shower.
LEE SEO JUN’S LOUNGE - MORNING
She walked out of the room and saw that Lee Seo Jun obviously spent
the night on the sofa. She smiled at the sleeping Lee Seo Jun and went
into the kitchen to fix breakfast. Lee Seo Jun woke up to the fresh
brew smell of coffee. He got up from the sofa and saw that Kim Geun
Young was in the kitchen.
LSJ : Good morning!
KGY : Good morning! Go and get wash up. Breakfast will be ready soon.
LSJ : Sure, will be out very soon
Kim Geun Young was already seated at the table and was reading the
newspapers. When she saw Lee Seo Jun, she got up and brought out
the pot of coffee and poured Lee Seo Jun a cup of coffee. Lee Seo Jun
sat down and took a look at the newspapers.
KGY : We are in the papers today
LSJ : Really? Where is it?
Lee Seo Jun turned to look at the page that Kim Geun Young was on.
The title on their picture caption was ‘Lee Seo Jun, Korean
photographer, son of the late Dae Shang Corporation President, Lee Ki
Joon and his fiancée, Kim Geun Young’.
KGY : They seemed to know who you are
LSJ : There is nothing mention relating to my work
at all. This will just bring more unnecessary attention than I would wish for.
As Lee Seo Jun finished his last sentence, his mobile phone rang. Lee
Seo Jun saw the caller identity and took a deep breath before
answering the call.
LSJ : Hello! Noona. Yes, I understand. Yes, we can meet you this morning. Your house? Yes, I know. Goodbye!
KGY : Your Noona?
LSJ : She is the wife of current President of Dae Shang Corporation, Ahn Jung Hyun. She wants to see us this morning.
KGY : She wants to see me?
LSJ : Yes, she wants to meet my fiancée.
