AHN JUNG HYUN’S HOUSE – MORNING
Lee Seo Jun arrived at a bungalow situated in what is known as the
Korean’s Beverly Hills. She was shocked at the size of the house and
they enter through the gates. Lee Seo Jun parked the car at the
entrance and a beautiful woman came out of the house to greet them.
LMW : Seo Jun, you are here. Welcome! You must be Geun Young ssi. Seo Jun, she is so pretty. Come in!
KGY : How do you do?
Kim Geun Young was worried about snooty airs from Lee Seo Jun’s
obviously very rich relative but found his Noona to be extremely down
to earth and Kim Geun Young started to warm up to her. Lee Seo Jun
lead Kim Geun Young into the house and Kim Geun Young thought
that she has entered a palace. Lee May Wan showed them to a room
where there is a table already laden with tea and cakes.
LMW : Come, sit down. Geun Young ssi, you must sit next to me and let me talk to you.
Lee Seo Jun took a seat on the armchair while Lee May Wan leads Kim
Geun Young to a two seater sofa. A maid came in and served them
tea and they waited for the maid to leave before they began to
converse.
LMW : Seo Jun, you are a naughty boy. You never even bother to mention your engagement to your Noona. Are we dead to you?
LSJ : I just did not have the time as there was so much work at the studio
LMW : Work! Work! That is all you men think about. I hope you will spend more time with Geun Young ssi when you are married.
LSJ : Don’t worry! Geun Young know how I worked. She has worked at the studio before. That is how we met
LMW : You see, it was an office romance. Geun Young ssi, I did not even know that Seo Jun had a girlfriend after he broke up with Young Joo. The boy did not even mention about going to Africa until my husband told me that he arrange for some storage for him. We are here just to store things for him and he does not even treat us like family.
LSJ : Noona, aren’t you carrying this a little overboard. You know that I have live my life well on my own and besides you so busy with your social life to bother about this overgrown brother
LMW : It is my fault now. I have been talking for so long. I have not heard Geun Young ssi speak. You must tell me what you must think of our Seo Jun. I thought there will be not be a woman who can stand his obnoxious behavior
LSJ : Noona, that is all in the past now. Geun Young understand me very well as we have been through our share of rough times
LMW : It’s that true, Geun Young?
KGY : Yes, we have been through some patches together. I have my consent for him to go to Africa. It is all in the past now and we are looking forward to our future together
LMW : What do you do?
KGY : I teach in a high school now. I was taking my teaching exams when I did part time at Seo Jun’s studio last year
LMW : What a noble profession
LSJ : Geun Young comes from a family of teachers
LMW : Really, we must meet up with your family some time. Seo Jun should have somebody from his side of the family in this discussion of marriage
LSJ : I think I am old enough to handle my own matters. Besides you will be away in Europe for your annual trip
LMW : I can always change that for next year. Geun Young, what do you say? I should be present, shouldn’t I?
KGY : If you wish but it is rather a small wedding as both sides the family is rather small
LMW : Small? Seo Jun, what would your brother-in-law say when he hears that? After all you are the son of one of the foundling member of Dae Shang.
LSJ : I have nothing more to do with Dae Shang and it has been like that from day one.
LMW : You always kick up such a fuss when I bring up Dae Shang.
LSJ : I just want to carry with my own life and preserved my own memories. I do not want anything to do with the corporate world and Dae Shang has no relations with me
AJH : Seo Jun, do you dislike us so much?
Lee Seo Jun and Kim Geun Young turned towards the voice and it was
a distinguished looking gentleman in his 40s. Kim Geun Young could
tell that this is Ahn Jung Hyun from the photographs in the room. Lee
Seo Jun and Kim Geun Young stood up when Ahn Jung Hyun entered
the room to sit down. He is the son of the other founding member of
Dae Shang, Ahn Sang Wook
LSJ : Hyung, it is not that but I have absolutely nothing to do with the business world and this wedding will remain private and I will not allow it to be made into a circus
LMW : How can you say a thing like that? We will do no such thing. After all, it is almost to say that we are having a family occasion as well.
LSJ : I know the two of you for too long. Just let us have our wedding as it should be, with family. I don’t want my wedding to be a circus
AJH : May Wan, just stop. If you go on any further, we mind not even get an invitation to go
Lee May Wan gasped at the thought. Kim Guen Young was really
curious about exclusion of family on Lee Seo Jun’s side. The maid
came in and brought some more cakes and they ate in silence.
LEE SEO JUN’S HOUSE - DAY
Lee Seo Jun and Kim Geun Young was sitting at the lounge with a cup
of coffee and Kim Geun Young was dying to ask him what happen. Lee
Seo Jun smiled at Kim Geun Young’s worried expression
LSJ : What is it you want to ask me? Just ask
KGY : What happen back there?
LSJ : Do you know what it is like to grow up in a Chaebol family? It is like a priceless animal paraded in an exhibition. That is the feeling I get throughout when I was growing up. It is so suffocating. I do not want you or any of my family to go through that. There is no fault who your parents are but you can very well do something about the way you want to live your life. I choose to have nothing to do with that part.
KGY : What really happen?
LSJ : Do you know one of the reasons that Young Joo ssi said the reason she left me besides my failure to realize her needs was that she was nobody at that time. She made a direct reference to status difference. It should not ever happen in a relationship.
KGY : Really? She said that.
LSJ : You saw the interest of reporter who asked us questions that night. I think he knew about my background. I cannot seem to escape it sometimes but I will make sure one day people will forget whatsoever about my past and let me live my life as Lee Seo Jun
KGY : We will be very happy living the way we want.
LSJ : It’s been a long day. Let me send you home.
KGY : Are you sure?
LSJ : I am not going to be upset about it any longer.
LOVELY VISION BRIDAL HOUSE – DAY
Lee Seo Jun and Kim Geun Young arrived a bridal house for their
selection of wedding clothes for the wedding. Seo Hee Won greeted
them at the door.
SHW : Geun Young ssi, Sit Cham Nim, you are here at last. Come, Geun Young ssi, let see to your gown. Sit Cham Nim, Jae Min is there with your suits
LSJ : Carry On! Take your time. I will see you later.
Lee Seo Jun walked over to where Han Jae Min was seated and a
bridal shop assistant asked Lee Seo Jun about his refreshment, Lee
Seo Jun asked for coffee.
HJM : Teacher, this is finally the big moment
LSJ : Yes, the preparation is almost all done and all the matters already iron out. I can understand why people only marry once
HJM : That why it must be a once in a lifetime experience
LSJ : Yes
Lee Seo Jun did not speak any further as they brought out Kim Geun
Young in her wedding dress
HJM : Wah! Geun Young, you look absolutely lovely. Teacher, doesn’t she look lovely?
Lee Seo Jun just stared at the vision before him. Kim Geun Young
blushed prettily at the compliment. Han Jae Min looked at Lee Seo Jun
when he did not make reply
HJM : Teacher? Teacher?
LSJ : Yes, absolutely beautiful
HJM : Teacher, you go and get changed and we can start the session
Han Jae Min had agreed to take their wedding photographs. Lee Seo
Jun was changed and took his place on the backdrop and the
photography session started. It was taken with a lot of fun and many
faces of happiness from Lee Seo Jun and Kim Geun Young. Han Jae
Min from behind the lens felt the happiness as well. When it was over,
Lee Seo Jun and Kim Geun Young took a long breath.
KGY : I am glad that is over. It is so tiring. Seo Jun, how does it feel to be on the other side of the lens for once?
LSJ : One of the very few times, it will be counted as. Jae Min, let me have a look at the shots
Lee Seo Jun went over and looked at the shots with his normal
professionalism. Seo Hee Won came over and this time she
congratulated Kim Geun Young
SHW : Kim Geun Young ssi, congratulations! I hope it is not too late but congratulations
KGY : Thank you, Hee Won ssi.
It was the first time the two women allowed the bygones be bygones
and Seo Hee Won can only feel happiness for Lee Seo Jun who is
marrying the woman he loved. She sincerely wished them well
ELITE KOREAN RESTAURANT – NIGHT
Lee Seo Jun arranged a dinner for the both families to meet prior to
the wedding. Lee Seo Jun was there in a private room with his sister
and brother-in-law. Kim Geun Young brought everyone from her
family. The door opened and everyone in the room stood up
LSJ : How do you do? This is my Noona and Hyung Nim
LMW & AJH : How do you do?
KGY’s Father : How do you do? This is my mother-in-law, my wife and my son, Min Soo
KGY & family : How do you do?
LSJ : Grandmother, please sit here
KGY’s
Grandmother : Yes
Everybody took their sit and were silent for a moment while the
waitress poured everyone a cup of tea. Lee Seo Jun signaled to serve
dinner.
LMW : I have told Seo Jun off for not arranging this meeting earlier or else the wedding plans will not have been so simple. If we have our way, it should be a lot grander. After all our Seo Jun is not only a famous photographer but part of the Dae Shang Foundation
KGY’s Father : Dae Shang Foundation?
LSJ : Noona, this is a meeting of family. Let’s not talk anything away from what is intended tonight.
KGY : Yes.
KGY’s Mother : What exactly did you mean by that? By standards I think the wedding is grand as it is
LMW : But it cannot entertain my side of the family
LSJ : Noona, we do not have anyone else expect ourselves. Who is there to invite?
LMW : How about all Father’s associates?
LSJ : Those are Father’s associates not mine. I don’t know any of them and not necessary to invite them
LMS : There! He goes again. He is not treating us like family
AJH : Dear, just keep quiet or else you will be excluded as well. Just look at Seo Jun’s expression
Lee May Wan had a look at Lee Seo Jun and knew to keep quiet. Kim
Geun Young is totally confused to what is going on. Lee See Jun
decided to explain the best that he could of the situation.
LSJ : Our father is one of the founding members of Dae Shang Corporation. My Hyung Nim, Ahn Jung Hyun’s father is the other. My Hyung Nim is now the President of Dae Shang. My Noona being the socialite that she is likes to plan parties. She wanted to plan mine as well but I would refer a more informal affair for my wedding
KGY’S
Grandmother : Does that mean that you are from a Chaebol family?
LSJ : Grandmother. We are just family. There should not be anything to do with hierarchy when it comes to love
AJH : Well said, Seo Jun. Dear, let him have his wedding his own way. He is a man in his thirties not a kid.
KGY’s Father : Yes? Yes, that is true. Let the couple do want they want. After all it is their marriage.
KGY’s
Grandmother : I cannot believe that Geun Young did not inform us about it. Min Soo, did you not of this?
KMS : No, Grandmother
KGY : Grandmother, I am marrying Seo Jun not Dae Shang Corporation. We will have our own life. I will teach and Seo Jun will still take photographs.
KGY’s Father : Son-in-law. You have done well. I am pleased. The dinner is here. Let’s eat and rejoice at this occasion between the two families
LMW : Since you have put it this way, let give a toast, to the happy couple
Everyone in the room drank to Lee Seo Jun and Kim Geun Young’s
happiness and Lee Seo Jun took a long breath that dinner is going off
without a hitch.
IN A TAXI – NIGHT
Kim Geun Young’s mother was further impressed with Lee Seo Jun’s
family background.
KGY’s Mother : What good fortune our Geun Young have to marry into that family? Why does Seo Jun ssi still insist on her working? She should stay home. She will have lot to do as a Chaebol wife
KGY’s Father : Dear, do you know how hard Geun Young worked for her teaching license? She should carry on teaching until perhaps until the children come?
KGY’s
Grandmother : Children?
KGY’s Father : You should understand Seo Jun got his own career and he is very successful. Whatever his background is does not matter, he is a fine man now on his own and our Geun Young is blessed in that alone. You can see Seo Jun has very little to do with that part of his life. So don’t worry.
KGY’s Mother : Yes. I know. It is so good to know that our Geun Young has done very well for herself
KMS : Mother, what should I call the Teacher? Teacher or brother-in-law?
KGY’s Father : Once he is your Teacher, he is forever your Teacher. Don’t you forget that? Is Geun Young coming home tonight?
KGY’s Mother : No, they are expecting some furniture in tomorrow and she will be at Seo Jun ssi to supervise it
KGY’s Father : Really?
LEE SEO JUN’S HOUSE – NIGHT
Lee Seo Jun and Kim Geun Young shared a bottle of red wine. The
lights in the hall was at its low. Kim Geun Young had her head resting
on Lee Seo Jun’s shoulder while his arm was around her shoulder.
KGY : The dinner did not go too badly
LSJ : It would have. But it is a good thing Hyung Nim stopped my Noona
KGY : Well, that is the last hurdle. The next is just the registrar and reception and the rest is all ours
LSJ : Where do you want to go for the honeymoon?
KGY : We have already spent way too much with the wedding and the house. How about Cheju Island? Everyone does it? Have you been there? We are not talking about work
LSJ : If it is not for work, no
KGY : Then it is time you should take your wife
Lee Seo Jun laughed at Kim Geun Young’s comment
LSJ : I am sorry that I did not say a lot about my family before
KGY : I know. You have your own pride and the desire to be your own man. It is no something to be ashamed of but rather I am proud of you because of it. It is not everyday people can give up their old life in pursue of their own dreams. Seo Jun ssi, you have done well
Lee Seo Jun took the glass of wine off Kim Geun Young’s hand and
kissed her
REGISTRAR OFFICE – DAY
Kim Geun Young’s family, Lee Seo Jun’s family and their close friends
were at the registrar office waiting for the Kim Geun Young and Lee
Seo Jun’s name to be called
LMW : We can always do this privately. Why did Seo Jun need to do this?
AJH : Dear, just keep quiet
Registrar Officer : Lee Seo Jun and Kim Geun Young ssi, please step forward
KGY : Seo Jun, it our turn. Hurry!
LSJ : If you were so keen, I would have done this much earlier
They stood in front of the officer and once there was silence the officer
started the marriage rights
Registrar Officer : We are gathered here today to legally join these two people according the laws of the Republic of Korea. Are the both of you entering this marriage of your own free will?
LSJ & KGY : Yes
Registrar Officer : Do you Lee Seo Jun ssi take Kim Geun Young as your legal wife?
LSJ : Yes I do
Registrar Officer : Do you Kim Geun Young ssi take Lee Seo Jun as your legal husband?
KGY : Yes, I do
Registrar Officer : With the signing of this document you are bound by the Marriage and Divorce Law of The Republic of Korea. Can the witnesses, please step forward. Lee Seo Jun and Kim Geun Young ssi, please signed where I have marked here. The witnesses are to sign which I have marked here
Ahn Jung Hyun and Kim Geun Young’s father stood as witnesses
representing groom and brides sides respectively. Lee Seo Jun and
Kim Geun Young signed at the designated places and followed by the
witnesses. The officer checked the document and when he was
satisfied
Registrar Officer : I now pronounced you husband and wife. It is okay to kiss your wife now. The law permits that in here
Lee Seo Jun kissed Kim Geun Young fully on her lips and everyone
cheered. There was a few wet tears coming from Kim Geun Young’s
family. Lee May Wan was still smarting how simple the wedding of the
male descendant of Dae Shang Corporation. Her husband had warned
her not to make a scene today. She is waiting for tonight to shine her
skills
HYATT GRAND HOTEL – NIGHT
Lee Seo Jun had agreed to hold his wedding reception at a big hotel
after much persuasion from his sister and Kim Geun Young realized
that Lee Seo Jun will need to thank a lot of people in the industry
especially with the success of the African project. She saw the need to
do it as well. Lee May Wan and Ahn Jung Hyun was busy with their
guests. The dinner tonight is taken care by the groom side and Kim
Geun Young’s family also was busy entertaining their side of relatives
KGY’s
Grandmother : The rich people really know how to throw a party. Does it have to be this grand? Are they over their heads a little?
KGY’s Mother : Keep quiet. This is also your grand daughter’s wedding
KGY’s Father : Ah? Third Uncle and Auntie. Thank you for coming. This lady will take you to your tables
BRIDE’S ROOM – NIGHT
Seo Hee Won was finishing the small touches on Kim Geun Young’s
wedding gown
SHW : That should do it. Wah! Geun Young ssi. You are really pretty
KGY : I am so nervous. How many guests are there? I heard it is about seven hundred people. Do we know seven hundred people?
Lee Seo Jun came in to check on Kim Geun Young. He went over and
held Kim Geun Young hands which were quite cold. Seo Hee Won
slipped out to allowed the newly wed their private moment
LSJ : What’s wrong? Nervous?
KGY : Seo Jun. There is seven hundred people out there. I don’t think I can make it.
LSJ : Just think that there are your students during assembly
KGY : That is a good thought. Yes, I will do that. Why are you here? Are you supposed to see the guests?
LSJ : Yes. Attending to my wife is more important. Are you ready? We are about to start
KGY : Yes, let’s go
OUTSIDE THE BALLROOM – NIGHT
The grand ballroom door were closed and Lee Seo Jun gave a signal
then Kim Geun Young heard the MC making the announcement
MC : Ladies and Gentlemen, let us rise to welcome the newly weds, Lee Seo Jun and Kim Geun Young ssi
The door swung open and Lee Seo Jun gave a firm squeeze onto Kim
Geun Young’s hand and she hooked her hand on his arm and they
made their entrance. They took their places at the main table which
consist of their family members. The whole room thundered with
applause. Dinner started once they were seated. Once on the third
course, Seo Hee Won signaled to Kim Geun Young to changed to her
evening wear. She returned and wore a simple gown in pink chiffon.
She was about to sit when Seo Hee Won indicated that Lee Seo Jun
and she must go on stage to give a toast and a small speech. Lee Seo
Jun hold Kim Geun Young’s hand
LSJ : Let’s go and thank everyone and go home
KGY : Yes
ON STAGE – NIGHT
The MC showed them to the wedding cake and they cut it and bowed
low to their guest. They then pooped the champagne bottle and once
their glasses were filled, offered a toast to their guests and bowed low.
Lee Seo Jun went to the podium to say a few words
LSJ : First and for most I like to take this opportunity to thank my family, especially the new one who has accepted me and gave me their daughter. Thank you. To my Noona, I never have been the best of a brother but tonight I thank you for giving us this wonderful memory. Thank you. Lastly, to my wife, who is most deserving of what little I had offered her. Thank you. I want to say that this one year is great testimony of our love and we wish to continue that on our own so kindly don’t bother us from now on
The guests all laughed and cheered
LSJ : The best thanks to you all tonight for being here to witness that love. Thank you very much. Geun Young, you got anything to say?
KGY : Thank you very much. We will live well.
The guests clapped loudly and cheered them as they bowed low to the
guests once again
OUTSIDE THE GRAND BALLROOM – NIGHT
Kim Guen Young changed to a traditional hanbok. Lee Seo Jun and
Kim Geun Young with their family were seeing the guests off and
everyone commented that it was a wonderful reception. The elders of
the families are delighted at the comments.
BRIDE’S ROOM – NIGHT
Kim Geun Young sat down in great relief. She was glad that the last
part she was not on heels as she wore flat slippers under her hanbok
KGY : It was great of Hee Won’s suggestion to wear the hanbok in the end. The relatives like it and I could wear slippers under the skirts.
LSJ : Do you want to spend the night here or go home?
KGY : Go home. We exchange the honeymoon suite to dining vouchers or something
LSJ : Then Mrs. Lee, shall we go home?
KGY : Indeed Sit Cham Nim, we may
Lee Seo Jun picked up their luggage and his wife and they walked out
of the hotel to begin their new life

hi… i’m really confused.. you see i recently watched this drama
and it didn’t end like you just posted? it ended with both the girl and the
photographer [sorry can't remember the characters' name for the life of me]
admitting how much they love the other and then last was the girl’s younger brother’s attempt @ using the separation contract with his girlfriend.
it’s only 16 episodes right?
hmmmm… if you don’t mind so much could you clarify
if maybe i’m missing a final episode? or is this a different version?

may i say that it’s done very tastefully at that?
i really like how you focused well on both the character and
the visit with jaemin and hee won. i was really disappointed with
the original ending but your version has dampen that disappointment.
i will now remember rules of love with your ending rather than
the studio’s. thank you for making this drama MORE than what
it delivered!!!

I am glad that you enjoyed it as much as I had writing the ending out. I had this done in 2006. I did explained in the introduction of Episode 17 why I did the ‘ending’. Like you, I found it to be a great drama but very much in need to tie up loose ends.
This drama made me a fan of Kim Min Jong(Lee Seo Jun)and this director went on to direct Jang Hyuk’s ‘Thank You’ which is a great drama as well. You should catch it if you have not already and this director is also dating Kim Geun Young(choi Kang Hee) I am told.
